FSU would have destroyed nebraska in 97 ... but FSU actually played good teams that year, unlike nebraska's cake walk schedule ... nebraska wasnt even considered as the # 1 team until FSU lost a nail biter in the season finale against UF in the swamp ... its funny how nebraska barely beat unranked mizzou that year by the luck of god.
Man, you guys are all so angry. Let it go, it was 11 years ago! Michigan fans, if you want to complain, let's settle it this way. Last time we played... we beat you, so... we win. Deal? Deal.
I'm angry because Michigan fans are a bunch of fucking whiners like Penn State and their crusty old coach. They just need to go back to their cesspool of a state and pick on someone their own size.
I just don't like anything Big 10, quite frankly.
quit fighting about who was better all you idiots. they both deserved it and until there is a playoff it will always be that way. To say i guarantee we would have won is bullshit because you just dont know, games are not played on paper. besides they both suck right now so enjoy the past. ps im a UM alum although Nebraska is my second fave

Who did Michigan play??? #8 ranked WSU. #8?? What kind of bullshit team plays for the National championship against a #8 team, Not to mention They barely even struggled to pull out a victory in that game. Fuck you Michigan, that title is clearly OURS.
WSU regularly scored even more on its opponents than Tennessee did -- look it up! And nevermind that Manning was injured in the bowl game -- or that with both common opponents that Michigan and Nebraska shared, Michigan's margin of victory for both was a combined 5/1.
yeah michigan almost got beat in the rose bowl by a team lead by ryan leaf so really, who should be the one thanking their lucky stars for stealing a title? thats right, the maize and blue. hail to the victors, well not in 1997
HailVictors... you have no idea. simply looking at the stats proves how ridiculous those claims are. a few more stats, just for fun... your defense allowed 9 points per game... ours allowed 16 - difference of 7. your offense averaged 27 a game... our offense, 47 - difference of 20. add that to the fact that you guys squeaked it out against (#17?) Wazzou (who got jobbed at the end), while, by contrast, we piss-pounded peyton manning's #4 tennessee squad. game over. NU by at least 2 TDs.
All you cornshucker fans need to get out of the waste of space that is Nebraska. Michigan allowed an average of 9 pts. a game that year. Nebraska had NO passing game and Michigan could've commited 9 guys to stop that run game. Michigan had a more balanced team and a much more balanced offense. The coaches poll gave Osborne a sympathy going away GIFT in that share. MICHIGAN WOLVERINES 1997 NCAA FOOTBALL NATIONAL CHAMPIONS ALONE!
Mike Rucker, Grant Wistrom, and Jason Peter would've eaten Brian Greise and your RBs alive. Plus, people put nine men in the box EVERY game. They still couldn't stop it. What makes you think we couldn't pass, by the way? We could pass plenty good enough to make people respect it so they wouldn't get beat by a bomb.
Michigan never faced a rushing attack like Nebraska's in 97. It's hard to prepare for an option attack like the one Tom Osborne ran. Alot of college football coaches said they hated to prepare for it, and the physical pounding that came with it.
Putting 9 guys in the box to stop the option sounds easier than it is. NU had a passing game, NU just didn't utilize it that often. Frost still had 1400+ passing yards and completed 56%, and would've been able to exploit 9 guys in the box. Michigan's defense, specifically their pass defense was great that year. 9.5 points allowed per game compared to NU's defense allowing 16.4 points per game. However, NU averaged 47.1 points per game offensively, Michigan only averaged 26.8 per game.
Would've been a good game but Nebraska deserved it just as much as Michigan, ESPECIALLY after NU whooped up on Peyton Manning's Tennessee and Michigan needed a clock malfunction to beat Ryan Leaf's Washington State. Michigan also had 5 games decided by 10 points or less, NU only 2. It's a shame that the two couldn't have played, but there's no reason to say that Michigan deserved it over NU or vice-versa. Both teams got a share and that's what should've happened the way everything turned out.
Why is there no reason? Michigan and NU shared two common opponents:
Michigan beat Colorado 27-3. NU beat Colorado 27-24.
Michigan beat Baylor 38-3. NU beat Baylor 49-21.
The average margin of victory for Michigan was over 10-1. Nebrkasa's average margin of victory was under 2-1.
Hate to break it to you, but style points matter, ESPECIALLY in college football, and there's plenty of reason to believe Michigan would have handled Nebraska that year.
It's simple why there is no reason: because they both took care of their business and went undefeated. Relative scores don't mean jack. Both of those games NU played on the road and Michigan got them both in the Big House. Colorado/Nebraska is a rivalry, so naturally they're going to play tougher against NU. Regardless, both teams deserved it, and to say otherwise is just asinine and biased. Like I said, it's a shame that Michigan and NU didn't play, but it happened the way it did. Live with it.
You seem like one of those guys who says, "The scores between common points don't matter," but then you'd go on to point out how Nebraska had to play Peyton Manning while Michigan got Ryan Leaf.
Well, that's perfectly logical.
I don't know how else to put this, but you're really a total idiot. You and I both know that relative scores mean everything, especially in college football, where there is no playoff.
michigan didt play any1 4 the national title but nebraska did .. michagan was too scared to play Nu 4 the title .. thats the reason we NU played tennesee and why michigan played no1 .. if michigan derserved the title .. why didnt they play NU
Everyone knows the Big Ten and Pac Ten had and continues to have a contractual obligation with the Rose Bowl. "Being scared to play NU" had nothing to do with it.
Besides, Peyton Manning was injured in that bowl game, which is precisely why Nebraska shut the Vols down.
PS -- WSU certainly wasn't a nobody. They were ranked No. 8 and had a far more potent offense than Tennessee did in 1997. Look it up! CFB data warehouse d 0 t c 0 m has all of the scores that year.
ur an idiot ... nebraska would have creamed michigan that year .. pac 10 and big 12 can play each other for the title .. shit even osborne told the team to take it easy on manning becuz he was gonna be a somebody in the nfl .. nebraska was just too bad ass and michigan was scared
Look at this fool: he totally ignores my point and THEN has the nerve to call me an idiot.
Yes, the BCS is configured in a way that allows for a Big 12 opponent to play in the Rose Bowl, but this was not the case in the 97/98 Rose Bowl, so it's a moot point -- regardless, the Rose Bowl is still traditionally configured to be Pac 10/Big Ten when the top team from either conference is not (a) in the NC game or (b) an undesirable draw for the Rose Bowl that year.
No passing game. Go watch the Orange Bowl agaisnt Tenn. They tried same scheme that every otehr team does to stop Husker offense. STacked 8 and 9 in box. Frost and company loosend them up witht he pass and than they steamrolled them. 13 of 19 to start.
nebraska would've beaten michigan worse than they did peyton manning and the volunteers. Michigan sharing that title is almost as bad as eddie "garbage" george winning the heisman over frazier!
I watched both the Huskers and the Wolverines in '97, and I think Nebraska was a better overall team. Nebraska's defense was very good, but Michigan's was a little better. Nebraska's offense was much better than Michigan's however. Nebraska averaged over 50 points a game, while Michigan never scored more than 38 in a game. I think Nebraska would have won by 7 to 10 points.
Michigan would have beaten Nebraska, hahahaha. Tom Osbourn would have out coached Lyod Carr like none other. Whats Lyod's record against Ohio State anyway, yeah what a great big game coach. Don't bring up this NFL crap, Tom would have out coached Lyod something wicked.
man i was at the NU vs Washington game that year, i wish i would have been now so i could know how awesome it would be...but in all seriousness, Nebraska probably was the better team that year, there's just no competing with charlie mcbrides D and dr. tom, frost, ahman green, tomich and peter....and the destruction of Tennessee was the coolest thing ever, besides seeing the look on steve spurriers face in 95, michigan barely beating the #8 W. state team?
Cornhusker defensive tackle Jason Peter was less sharing than Frost.
"If you ask me, I don't think it should be a split title," he said after the Orange Bowl game. "I mean, we proved today that we're the best team in the country, without a doubt."
heisman has nothing to do with best team genius. nebraska would have owned michigan if they met in a bowl game. tennessee was much better than washington state and they got dominated while michigan just squeaked by washington state.
nebraska got lucky win agains missou in 97 off the feet which kept them alive for co titel and michigan didnt need luck oh and WHAT THE FUCK DID NEBRASKA DO THIS YEAR U ASS U GAVE UP LIKE 80 POINTS GET A LIFE AT LEAST MICHIGAN MADE A BOWL.APP STATE WOULDA DESTROYED U
What the fuck does the 2007 Nebraska team have anything to do with the 1997 Nebraska team? All I keep hearing about is how great michigan was and how many pros they produced. I would think such a great team could beat the #11 team by more than 5 points in the rose bowl. What a fucking joke. Your bad ass team only beat 2 teams ranked in the final top 25 polls while nebraska beat 5 final top 25 teams and #3 tennessee with PEYTON MANNING at qb and JAMAL LEWIS at rb.
well the douche bag before was talking about app state and yea wash state was good u guys did good too but u caught a lucky ball off a shoe to beat mizzou FUCK YU
I went to see Nebraska beat Michigan in the Alamo Bowl 2 years ago and most the fans are no class assholes just like you. Yall didn't deserve the title in '97 i already gave u the stats, 97' Nebraska destroyed Tenesee a team that was better than Michigan. Nebraska was too physical and too fast, they would have ran the ball all over '97 michigan.
U r too classy almabball32. How old are u 12-13? You probably were too young to even comprehend what was going on when the big10 was too scared to play in a real championship. Yall played the #8 team in the "championship." How can you win a championship after beating the 8th ranked team?
Yea cause back in the 90s the Pac-10 was a REAL powerhouse conference wasn't it! Oh wait, no they weren't. Up until USCs run lately they haven't won shit since 1978. Beating a #8 team puts you no higher than #7.
k fucker just go catch a ball off a foot of some guy to beat MISSOURI since there so good to u know lol ahahaha douche....nebraska has always been overated and they always will be...im gonna go catch the ball off someones foot to advance to play for the co national championchip!!!! go blue
Actually he was 4, if the outstanding spelling didn't clue you in, then almabball32's lowgrade homo-erotic fascination with swear words certainly will. There should be an age limit on these things.
big red fans,97 nebraska vs michigan. tom brady backup on that team. steve hutchinson, the highest paid off. lineman in the NFL backup on that team. jeffbackus, the second highest paid off. lineman in the NFL backup on that team. charles woodson, all pro , , on that team. dhani jones,1 time all pro, on that team, ian gold, was on that team.from that roster 28 players played in the NFL, 16 played at least five years in the nfl,15 still in the nfl.try and come up with better numbers
Ummm, nearly every starter on that NU team went to the pros... hell Ahman Green was one of the best runningbacks in the entire 90s. Also had a bout 4 NFL probowlers on that defense (Minter, Brown, Wistrom, etc)
nearly every starter...comeon now nebraska fuckin sucks by the way who is etc??? u should name them ahah dick...brian greisie too hes in the nfl still and oh yea ahman green blows cock all he does is fumble...and minter what did he have 4 good years in the nfl..whos brown...
Are you serious Ahman Green and Scott Forst would have ran all over 97' Michigan. Nebraska averaged 392 ypg rushing. Who cares how good ur backup lineman did in the pros anyway? our defense allowed only 73 ypg rushing.
good call ur sweet and the only fucking reason nebraska got CO national champs is that fucked up lucky play agianst missouri lol fuck the black shirts
i was just saying dont make fun od us now, like this season, with your stupid jokes... we were both good teams, although i still feel michigan was a bit better.
i was just saying not to make fun of us now, like this years season with your stupid jokes... we were both good teams, although i still feel michigan was better.
The big ten like always is under rated, im not saying you guys sucked and you definitly had a flashy offense, but watching the season as it went that team would've beat anyone. Just look at highlights of penn state and ohio state versus high lights of some of nebraska's hardest games. I mean just look at what the players have done after, not even charles woodson, look at brian griese and anyone else.
Underrated ur second best confrence team lost to a double A school, the big ten sucks. Highlights mean jack. A lot of programs had more prolific NFL players than Nebraska, but there are only 3 other programs that have as many wins as Nebraska, so what does that say about the NFL and college. The 95 Huskers were the best team ever and they didn't have many NFL studs. Nebraska was undeafted in a tougher confrence, they were better than Michigan. Michigan wasn't even undeafted.
michigan went udefeated . u used a guys foot to go to the co title game..we beat florida..sec is supposebly the best confrence we beat the heisman . u didnt make a bowl... our qb had a bum shoulder all year.. michigan has the most all time wins ever and best winning percentage we wernt really the 2nd best big ten team that was illinois supposebly and thats why they made the rose bowl. i dont know the 95 huskers at all so... who did u beat
The big ten is always being underrated because they dont have a championship game and were too scared to play in the real championship bowl game until 2000. Nebraska would have gladly played yall in a bowl but the big ten cant handle it, so NU just had to stomp Peyton manning who was way better than Brady and Lewis who was better than yalls crappy running backs.
who did Tennessee beat no one but auburn and UCLA, and you guys barely beat missouri and barely beat Colorado the team we crushed earlier in the season, and who did missouri lose to... ohio state, who we beat. Tennessee lost to florida who played penn state and beat them but penn state probed to be able to put up a fight and they werent even one of our harder teams we played.
almost the whole 1997 michigan starting team went pro, and if you watch the games there was more individual talent in the games at michigan, nebraska had some games where they slipped by as well plus how can you ever say michigan state, ohio state, iowa, washington state, Notre Dame, penn state and Wisconsin are easy games they looked easy because we crushed them all consistently and as you said the ap rankings were off, and so were those for the big teams you beat.
pisscrustedsmile, how do you figure michigan was much better? nebraska beat 5 top 25 teams while michigan beat 2. Nebraska beat #3 Tennessee in their bowl game 42-17 with PEYTON MANNING at qb while michigan barely beat #11 Washington State. The only thing that michigan had over nebraska was the biased east coast writers that voted for michigan in the ap poll.
not really id say michigan did with woodson!!!! and marcus ray. sam sword. dhani jones. ian gold. james hall. josh williams. chris roth. glen steele. andre weathers. tommy hendricks. william peterson. eric mayes.
the only the the fucked up huskers had is that fucking lucky catch that even gave u a shot at a titld dick... and michigan fucked everyone up...nebraska didnt there only blowout was prolly the bowl game so fuck off
just saying, since nebraska is number 5 in the espn bottom 10, maybe you shouldnt be making fun of Michigan for this years work... sorry i mean i probably was a little pissed off when i wrote the last thing, i dont hate nebraska i hate people hating Michigan which is a lot of people considering every coach out there, and espn people all have biases against Michigan... at least in the past 4 or 5 years.
Now that Michigan is two in the big 10, if they win the rest of their games they will go to the Rose bowl and prove you and everyone else wrong, if not, they will still have had a better season than nebraska.
obviously they were a good team, but im sorry but 1997 Michigan was a lot better. Oh and look at nebraska now... ooohh they lost to oklahoma state 45 to 14, i guess your season would be doing a lot worse than michigan's wouldnt it? Appalachian state doesnt even matter anymore considering every big team this year has had an upset.
nebraska came from behind in the polls after defeating peyton mannings #3 tennesse volunteers 42-17 while michigan had a much less impresive victory in there bowl game
If Nebraska and Michigan played that year NU would of destroyed them that Missouri game was a fluke. Not to mention Michigan beat Wazzu 21-16 in the Rose Bowl while Nebraska beat down UT 42-17. Oh and they shut down a QB named PEYTON MANNING!!!
Peyton Manning never won the big game in college, that's well documented. Big Blue's O-line would win the battle in the trenches. Backus, Hutchinson, and Jon Jansen. If Griese goes down, a back up named Tom Brady comes in. Glenn Steele, Dhani Jones, Sam Sword, Marcus Ray, CHARLES WOODSON, shut down Nebraska's offense. plus Chuck would catch a td, and returna punt for a TD, final score UM 31 Nebraska 20
Nebraska's Defense would of smashed them with Grant Wistrom, Mike Rucker, The Peter Brothers Eric Warfield and Freshman Defensive players like Carlos Polk and Kyle Vanden Bosch. And on the offensive side you had Scott Frost and AHMAN GREEN!!! not to mention Joel Mackovicka a Beast of a FB. Everyone thought in 95 that Florida would beat Nebraska and Nebraska destroyed them. final score Nebraska 45 Michigan 24.
another good point is that after there bowl ( and even before ) the nebraska players and coaches kept telling how great they were. Charles Woodson said it best. . . " We don't have to run our mouths and tell everyone how great we are. We beat 4 top 10 team, 3 of which were in the top 5. Our play is our smack talk ! " And i think everyone knows if it wasn't Osbourne's last year the coaches poll would have went to michigan to !
The players of Nebraska had to talk about how great they were because most Moron Sports Writers would Michigan in a heartbeat because the biased homerism towards Michigan. Oh and don't give me this crap about Nebraska not playing anybody that beatdown K-State who was in the top 5 at the time and they beat down Washington and Texas A&M and Tennesse. The only impressive game Michigan had was when they beat down Penn State that's it. They queaked by OSU and Notre Dame and Iowa.
BTW. . the common opponent they had in 1997. . colorado Michigan won 27 - 3 Nebraska Squeaked by 27 24 ! 1 more thing, penn state 1994. . . also better then nebraska. But 95 Huskers. . . AWESOME !
Hey Rube, how about UM 27-Buffs 3, and Nebraska 27-Buffs 24, Penn State was number one when Michigan pounded them 34-8, OSU was #4 when Michigan beat them
Only bummer is that there isn't any audio or music. Other than that, great shots of some classic Husker moments.

PS -- WSU certainly wasn't a nobody. They were ranked No. 8 and had a far more potent offense than Tennessee did in 1997. Look it up! CFB data warehouse d 0 t c 0 m has all of the scores that year.

ur an idiot ... nebraska would have creamed michigan that year .. pac 10 and big 12 can play each other for the title .. shit even osborne told the team to take it easy on manning becuz he was gonna be a somebody in the nfl .. nebraska was just too bad ass and michigan was scared
sintown13 3 years ago
Look at this fool: he totally ignores my point and THEN has the nerve to call me an idiot.
Yes, the BCS is configured in a way that allows for a Big 12 opponent to play in the Rose Bowl, but this was not the case in the 97/98 Rose Bowl, so it's a moot point -- regardless, the Rose Bowl is still traditionally configured to be Pac 10/Big Ten when the top team from either conference is not (a) in the NC game or (b) an undesirable draw for the Rose Bowl that year.
97 was a gold watch for Osborne.
WithExtremePrejudice 3 years ago
No passing game. Go watch the Orange Bowl agaisnt Tenn. They tried same scheme that every otehr team does to stop Husker offense. STacked 8 and 9 in box. Frost and company loosend them up witht he pass and than they steamrolled them. 13 of 19 to start.
95skersbestever 3 years ago
nebraska would've beaten michigan worse than they did peyton manning and the volunteers.

JS9700 4 years ago
Of course they were, they were the best team to ever play college football.
tennal2 3 years ago
The 97 Huskers were a great team, but the best ever was the 95 team. They absoulutely dominated everyone they played that year.
JS9700 3 years ago
Yeah Right after I clicked post comment I was like crap... it was the 95 teeam that was the best, followed by the 1970 team.
tennal2 3 years ago
Michigan would have beaten Nebraska, hahahaha. Tom Osbourn would have out coached Lyod Carr like none other. Whats Lyod's record against Ohio State anyway, yeah what a great big game coach. Don't bring up this NFL crap, Tom would have out coached Lyod something wicked.
manfries 4 years ago
man i was at the NU vs Washington game that year, i wish i would have been now so i could know how awesome it would be...but in all seriousness, Nebraska probably was the better team that year, there's just no competing with charlie mcbrides D and dr. tom, frost, ahman green, tomich and peter....and the destruction of Tennessee was the coolest thing ever, besides seeing the look on steve spurriers face in 95, michigan barely beating the #8 W. state team?
foolishfool3 4 years ago
Cornhusker defensive tackle Jason Peter was less sharing than Frost.
"If you ask me, I don't think it should be a split title," he said after the Orange Bowl game. "I mean, we proved today that we're the best team in the country, without a doubt."

haha sure but u didnt have the heisman did u now?? thats what i thought! GO BLUE!
almabball32 4 years ago
heisman has nothing to do with best team genius. nebraska would have owned michigan if they met in a bowl game. tennessee was much better than washington state and they got dominated while michigan just squeaked by washington state.
danielabq22 4 years ago
nebraska got lucky win agains missou in 97 off the feet which kept them alive for co titel and michigan didnt need luck oh and WHAT THE FUCK DID NEBRASKA DO THIS YEAR U ASS U GAVE UP LIKE 80 POINTS GET A LIFE AT LEAST MICHIGAN MADE A BOWL.APP STATE WOULDA DESTROYED U
almabball32 4 years ago
almabball32,
What the fuck does the 2007 Nebraska team have anything to do with the 1997 Nebraska team? All I keep hearing about is how great michigan was and how many pros they produced. I would think such a great team could beat the #11 team by more than 5 points in the rose bowl. What a fucking joke. Your bad ass team only beat 2 teams ranked in the final top 25 polls while nebraska beat 5 final top 25 teams and #3 tennessee with PEYTON MANNING at qb and JAMAL LEWIS at rb.
danielabq22 4 years ago
well the douche bag before was talking about app state and yea wash state was good u guys did good too but u caught a lucky ball off a shoe to beat mizzou FUCK YU

I went to see Nebraska beat Michigan in the Alamo Bowl 2 years ago and most the fans are no class assholes just like you. Yall didn't deserve the title in '97 i already gave u the stats, 97' Nebraska destroyed Tenesee a team that was better than Michigan. Nebraska was too physical and too fast, they would have ran the ball all over '97 michigan.

almabball32 4 years ago
U r too classy almabball32. How old are u 12-13? You probably were too young to even comprehend what was going on when the big10 was too scared to play in a real championship. Yall played the #8 team in the "championship." How can you win a championship after beating the 8th ranked team?
kylem03000 4 years ago
nope fuckface im not that young and there in the rose bowl they play pac ten schools nice try KID what are u 11-12
almabball32 4 years ago
Yea cause back in the 90s the Pac-10 was a REAL powerhouse conference wasn't it! Oh wait, no they weren't. Up until USCs run lately they haven't won shit since 1978. Beating a #8 team puts you no higher than #7.

k fucker just go catch a ball off a foot of some guy to beat MISSOURI since there so good to u know lol ahahaha douche....nebraska has always been overated and they always will be...im gonna go catch the ball off someones foot to advance to play for the co national championchip!!!! go blue

big red fans,97 nebraska vs michigan. tom brady backup on that team. steve hutchinson, the highest paid off. lineman in the NFL backup on that team. jeffbackus, the second highest paid off. lineman in the NFL backup on that team. charles woodson, all pro , , on that team. dhani jones,1 time all pro, on that team, ian gold, was on that team.from that roster 28 players played in the NFL, 16 played at least five years in the nfl,15 still in the nfl.try and come up with better numbers
dandizzle5956 4 years ago
Ummm, nearly every starter on that NU team went to the pros... hell Ahman Green was one of the best runningbacks in the entire 90s. Also had a bout 4 NFL probowlers on that defense (Minter, Brown, Wistrom, etc)
bohica31812 4 years ago
nearly every starter...comeon now nebraska fuckin sucks by the way who is etc??? u should name them ahah dick...brian greisie too hes in the nfl still and oh yea ahman green blows cock all he does is fumble...and minter what did he have 4 good years in the nfl..whos brown...
almabball32 4 years ago
Are you serious Ahman Green and Scott Forst would have ran all over 97' Michigan. Nebraska averaged 392 ypg rushing. Who cares how good ur backup lineman did in the pros anyway? our defense allowed only 73 ypg rushing.
kylem03000 4 years ago
are u serious nobody even knows scott forst and ahman green woulda fumbled as he normally does go blue

i was just saying not to make fun of us now, like this years season with your stupid jokes... we were both good teams, although i still feel michigan was better.
PissCrustedSmile 4 years ago
The big ten like always is under rated, im not saying you guys sucked and you definitly had a flashy offense, but watching the season as it went that team would've beat anyone. Just look at highlights of penn state and ohio state versus high lights of some of nebraska's hardest games. I mean just look at what the players have done after, not even charles woodson, look at brian griese and anyone else.
Crapzorsbutachin 4 years ago
Underrated ur second best confrence team lost to a double A school, the big ten sucks. Highlights mean jack. A lot of programs had more prolific NFL players than Nebraska, but there are only 3 other programs that have as many wins as Nebraska, so what does that say about the NFL and college. The 95 Huskers were the best team ever and they didn't have many NFL studs. Nebraska was undeafted in a tougher confrence, they were better than Michigan. Michigan wasn't even undeafted.
manfries 4 years ago
michigan went udefeated . u used a guys foot to go to the co title game..we beat florida..sec is supposebly the best confrence we beat the heisman . u didnt make a bowl... our qb had a bum shoulder all year.. michigan has the most all time wins ever and best winning percentage we wernt really the 2nd best big ten team that was illinois supposebly and thats why they made the rose bowl. i dont know the 95 huskers at all so... who did u beat
almabball32 4 years ago
The big ten is always being underrated because they dont have a championship game and were too scared to play in the real championship bowl game until 2000. Nebraska would have gladly played yall in a bowl but the big ten cant handle it, so NU just had to stomp Peyton manning who was way better than Brady and Lewis who was better than yalls crappy running backs.
kylem03000 4 years ago
haha id change the southern accent fucker....nebraska should just go catch a ball off someone elses foot to advance ahaha FUCK U
almabball32 4 years ago
who did Tennessee beat no one but auburn and UCLA, and you guys barely beat missouri and barely beat Colorado the team we crushed earlier in the season, and who did missouri lose to... ohio state, who we beat. Tennessee lost to florida who played penn state and beat them but penn state probed to be able to put up a fight and they werent even one of our harder teams we played.
Crapzorsbutachin 4 years ago
almost the whole 1997 michigan starting team went pro, and if you watch the games there was more individual talent in the games at michigan, nebraska had some games where they slipped by as well plus how can you ever say michigan state, ohio state, iowa, washington state, Notre Dame, penn state and Wisconsin are easy games they looked easy because we crushed them all consistently and as you said the ap rankings were off, and so were those for the big teams you beat.
Crapzorsbutachin 4 years ago
pisscrustedsmile, how do you figure michigan was much better? nebraska beat 5 top 25 teams while michigan beat 2. Nebraska beat #3 Tennessee in their bowl game 42-17 with PEYTON MANNING at qb while michigan barely beat #11 Washington State. The only thing that michigan had over nebraska was the biased east coast writers that voted for michigan in the ap poll.
danielabq22 4 years ago
We had Heisman trophy winner Charles Woodson, arguably one of the greatest defensive players in college football history! A great defense too!
glory789 4 years ago
I like C-Wood for what he has done with Green Bay. Other than that Nebraska had a better defense
Wake89 4 years ago
not really id say michigan did with woodson!!!! and marcus ray. sam sword. dhani jones. ian gold. james hall. josh williams. chris roth. glen steele. andre weathers. tommy hendricks. william peterson. eric mayes.

the only the the fucked up huskers had is that fucking lucky catch that even gave u a shot at a titld dick... and michigan fucked everyone up...nebraska didnt there only blowout was prolly the bowl game so fuck off
almabball32 4 years ago
just saying, since nebraska is number 5 in the espn bottom 10, maybe you shouldnt be making fun of Michigan for this years work... sorry i mean i probably was a little pissed off when i wrote the last thing, i dont hate nebraska i hate people hating Michigan which is a lot of people considering every coach out there, and espn people all have biases against Michigan... at least in the past 4 or 5 years.
PissCrustedSmile 4 years ago
I will say that you guys have done far better goming off of 2 losses in the beginning of this season...I hope you beat Ohio State

Now that Michigan is two in the big 10, if they win the rest of their games they will go to the Rose bowl and prove you and everyone else wrong, if not, they will still have had a better season than nebraska.
PissCrustedSmile 4 years ago
That's not saying much. We Suck This Year.
Wake89 4 years ago
obviously they were a good team, but im sorry but 1997 Michigan was a lot better. Oh and look at nebraska now... ooohh they lost to oklahoma state 45 to 14, i guess your season would be doing a lot worse than michigan's wouldnt it? Appalachian state doesnt even matter anymore considering every big team this year has had an upset.

Just ask Appilachian State.
Wake89 4 years ago
I think this years Appalachian State team could be the '97 Michigan team LMAO!!!
Wake89 4 years ago
1997 michigan wolverines were the real national champs. a lucky kicked ball against missouri !
p.s. the coaches poll gave it to nebraska because they thought it was osbournes final year, what a crock !
widwag 4 years ago
If Nebraska and Michigan played that year NU would of destroyed them that Missouri game was a fluke. Not to mention Michigan beat Wazzu 21-16 in the Rose Bowl while Nebraska beat down UT 42-17. Oh and they shut down a QB named PEYTON MANNING!!!
Wake89 4 years ago
Peyton Manning never won the big game in college, that's well documented. Big Blue's O-line would win the battle in the trenches. Backus, Hutchinson, and Jon Jansen. If Griese goes down, a back up named Tom Brady comes in. Glenn Steele, Dhani Jones, Sam Sword, Marcus Ray, CHARLES WOODSON, shut down Nebraska's offense. plus Chuck would catch a td, and returna punt for a TD, final score UM 31 Nebraska 20
widwag 4 years ago
Nebraska's Defense would of smashed them with Grant Wistrom, Mike Rucker, The Peter Brothers Eric Warfield and Freshman Defensive players like Carlos Polk and Kyle Vanden Bosch. And on the offensive side you had Scott Frost and AHMAN GREEN!!! not to mention Joel Mackovicka a Beast of a FB. Everyone thought in 95 that Florida would beat Nebraska and Nebraska destroyed them. final score Nebraska 45 Michigan 24.
Wake89 4 years ago
NO, nobody thought Florida would beat nebraska in 95, that was one of the best teams ever. The peter Brothers ? please. overrated !
widwag 4 years ago
another good point is that after there bowl ( and even before ) the nebraska players and coaches kept telling how great they were. Charles Woodson said it best. . . " We don't have to run our mouths and tell everyone how great we are. We beat 4 top 10 team, 3 of which were in the top 5. Our play is our smack talk ! " And i think everyone knows if it wasn't Osbourne's last year the coaches poll would have went to michigan to !
widwag 4 years ago
The players of Nebraska had to talk about how great they were because most Moron Sports Writers would Michigan in a heartbeat because the biased homerism towards Michigan. Oh and don't give me this crap about Nebraska not playing anybody that beatdown K-State who was in the top 5 at the time and they beat down Washington and Texas A&M and Tennesse. The only impressive game Michigan had was when they beat down Penn State that's it. They queaked by OSU and Notre Dame and Iowa.
Wake89 4 years ago
going into the bowl games, not just the sports writers had michigan number one. . .so did the coaches poll !
widwag 4 years ago
BTW. . the common opponent they had in 1997. . colorado Michigan won 27 - 3 Nebraska Squeaked by 27 24 ! 1 more thing, penn state 1994. . . also better then nebraska. But 95 Huskers. . . AWESOME !
