If you go on the Atkins Diet, you can lose like 10 pounds in a week, I've seen close family members do it and I've even done it; it's effective. You basically have to avoid carbs and sugars. You want to eat protein, and the simple way to think about it is to only eat meat and vegetables. I think dairy is okay, but american cheese specifically is horrible for it. After the first week, you can start having fruits, too.
