Because of this, I think the cut from the close nod to the wide walk away is the worst cut in the film, precisely because it's not different enough, so it just feels jarring.
What surprised me the most was the intro scene however. I had intended to film them walking up to each other, cut in close for the nod, and then go wide for the walk away and turn. When I did that, it looked choppy and ugly I need to study the art of the cut. I think the transitions need to be from one scene to something which is clearly and visually something else.
I’d filmed what I wanted for tyler drawing his sword, but we then switched sides and I forgot to refilm it. That part should have been better. could have been, the issue was my script supervisor slacking.
