A piano master can play anything you give them. Try listening to Arkadi Volodos, Evgeny Kissin, etc. Some of them can replay a piece mostly just from hearing it. They have exceptional technical skills (speed, accuracy). They also can pick a piece apart and come up with exceptional phrasing, accents, articulation.
There are many good pianists around. Some 11 year olds can do what this guy is doing. Admiring him is one thing, but try listening to a few hundred excellent pianists first.
Master? I just get ticked when people throw that word around like everyone gets to be one. Play like Peterson or Tatum then maybe? Play all 5 of Rachmaninoff's concertos and I'll call you a master. As a child, Peterson also studied with Hungarian-born pianist Paul de Marky, a student of Istvan Thomán who was himself a pupil of Franz Liszt, so his training was predominantly based on classical piano.
This is good, but just rather normal playing here.
The above comments. with wit him not being a master. Well Shush Shush Shush Green Eyed Monster. He went straight thru different styles, with ease, transition, and colored chords. STOP HATING. Keep up the Good work man!
I like Matt Bellamy, but I am sorry, all the new-age tricks employed by modern pop-pianists are really silly, especially when we compare the real seasoned skills from someone like Jorge Bolet , Glen Gould or Horowitz... Matt Bellamy is fine, but not a "master"
well i'm saying him as a pianist, he doesn't use any of those tricks when it's just him and piano, not one of his band's songs, and to me, he seems more of a master than any of those you listed. mainly because he seems to be more "one" with his instrument than any of them, he's about even otherwise.
arpeggiated hang cross-overs on major 9th chords and pulsating minor block chords are totally a new-agey trick- and I find it AMAZING that you would say that Matt Bellamy is more "one" with his instrument than Glen Gould or Horowitz.
ah, that was my bad. i thought you meant like synths and special effects. and i do think he's more one with his instrument. i see glen gould plays the piano, and i see matt bellamy plays music, on the piano. it seems more natural than speaking. i just don't see that with gould
that's nice but he's not a "piano's master" at all , i don't like his tecnique(the position of the right hand while playing fast notes) , by the way he has a good swing. 4/5 for the music :)
WOW!!!!!. Classical, blues, gospel, country, latin. This guy is saying so much in a mere 3 minute video. (1) A nice piano adaptation of an orchestral work (2)The country segment is as good as Floyd Cramer (3)The variation on the hymn tune is as good as any of BEETHOVEN'S or MOZART's
(4)The use of those acciacaturas is perfect (one note crushed a little too fast or slow would render the interpretation of any of these styles to be unidiomatic...but this guy is precise on all of them.
EXCELLENT!!!!!!!--------A masterful display of piano expertise. This video has everything: virtuosity, versatility. I detect a hint of something "instructional"as well. This video could well be an excerpt from a clinic on how to utilize an accaciatura in different styles of music
hes my piano teacher, he teaches piano here in tampa , its better when you see him in real life because every time he plays music its from listening he never uses sheet music, u gotta see him in real life to actually call him a paino master, i think he is referred to as piano master because of the ability to play anysong on piano. i could see why in this vid you wouldnt call him a piano master but in real life he is!
(shrug) ...It's decent piano playing for an amateur, but absolutely nothing to call him a "piano master" for at all. 1600 ratings isn't really all that much, especially on youtube, where the majority of viewers don't really know how to judge a pianist's abilities.
For the record, I rated it at 1 star, not because of the playing, but because of the wildly overrated description....
You must be the teacher of the greats to have such insight and judgment abilities. Please share your mastery with us by posting your own stellar performance here for the world to see and cherish. Share your talent, thy true master. We wait to be humbled and amazed...
really liked the end bit, but i gotta agree with these boys, this guys no master. true hes got skills, but overcompensates with speed over style. id say 3 and 1/2 stars
um, i mean he's decent, but if you guys think this is some kind of master you really have missed a lot of professionals out there. his speed is something that in no way would be considered a "trick", and he needs to work on his timing. Honestly, it's average for an accomplished pianist.
Great, but not enough to be called piano master. Most pro's can already play that fast, and piano mastery is not just about speed. Most of piano is about interpretation and personality; which, unfortunately, I don't really see here.
I call him a master and he's is the best I've personally seen. This little improve might not be the "best" example. But as you can see, most folks agree that it is incredible. You little anonymous utube critics are morons overall. Get a life.
dude, keep your wrist low, because you'll overbalast it.. and that really sucks (I'm talkin about your right hand) keep it up! (not your hand, but your skil ;) haha)
I pretty sure he would be far better than you friend, he isnt just playing one extordinary song, but playing serveral different tunes and styles of music.

Well.. judging by the over 1500 favorited and 1600 ratings at a 4 star average, you're in the minority opinion!
By "really fabulous" do you mean juggle at the same time? Because that would really be.
