  • happy new year!

  • @CosmoPhotography When are you going to NC soon? i would LOVE to see a video of Jordan Lake, near the RTP.

  • Wow!! VA-895 is pretty high. Which part is the tallest bridge on the interchange?

  • I love how you drive!

  • .. another great vid - luv the music match as well ..

  • i really enjoyed ..

    thx :)

  • here we go

  • here we go

  • i love your videos! awesome!!

  • Awesome work! Loved the song choice for this, too.

The I-95/VA 895 interchange at the beginning is probably one of my top 10 favorite interchanges in the US. It's right up there among the most unique ones to be found anywhere in North America. I do find it a bit odd, however, that officials decided to construct such an elaborate interchange, while the rest of I-95 through Richmond could use a real upgrade. I don't think its 6 lane setup will be sufficient in the near future?

  • @FreewayBrent: Nevermind, I missed your annotation in the beginning about how the height of the bridge is necessary to accommodate ships.

  • @FreewayBrent There are plans to toll I-95 at the VA/NC border in order to pay for future upgrades. But I since I-95 was built with federal money I think they have to get approval from the feds first before they can start tolling. VA-895 was built under a public-pirvate partnership and that explains the elaborate interchange. My understanding is that cool-looking northbound ramp was a response to complaints by the city of richmond that there was no northbound access to I-95 in the original plans

  • Evan, I finished the book "Final Cut Express 4" by Diana Weynard. In the end of the book I learned how to do the "caption" the way you do. LOL

  • Nice work, always enjoy that stretch of I-95 and especially the VA-895 interchange. I also agree with your comment at 3:53 about Richmond having some characteristics of a northern city, especially with regards to the highways. Thumbs up!

  • I'm liking the ride through and video. Also, I'm curious as to what characteristics make Richmond feel more northern compared to its southern counterparts (I live in PA and haven't been down south as of yet though I would like to at some point).

  • Nice video! I went through here in june, but I was half-asleep. As someone relatively unfamiliar with most of the east coast, I-95 through Richmond reminds me vaguely of a St. Louis area freeway in terms of construction style. I could be wrong, but it was probably built in a similar era.

  • Great Vid. Just curious about your observation of Richmond giving the impression of a northern city as oppose to a southern city. Is it the architecture, roadways, climate,? Again I am just curious.

  • Nice video. That cigarette thing as you enter Richmond just looks tacky.... I also would have thought that as it merges with I-95 they need more than 3 lanes as it seems to get awfully congested. Thanks for your videos, from a viewer in New Zealand.

  • I remembered driving on this portion of 95.. I can't believe they took down the building that is right next to the James River bridge.. it's like you could run off the bridge and easily crashed into that building. (the one at the end of James River Bridge.. before the I-64 exit).

I still believe that present I-95 should be an extension of I-85 and the I-295 being as I-95.

  • Crazy stack interchange man! Thanks for sharing.

  • Awesome route Evan! That hybrid interchange is an amazing sight! Nice editing on the vid too. Thumbs up!

  • What camera and what software was used for recording and editing the video? Good job!

  • @BobFoxNT Thanks! I used a Canon 7D to film this and Apple's Final Cut Pro 7 to edit the footage.

  • Great video, Evan!

  • @georgiaroadgeek Thank you, Steve! :-)

  • Excellent video Evan. I love the music and the effects!! ... Always a pleasure to ride with you.

  • @CAMINOANDALUZ Gracias, amigo!

  • Nicely done! Richmond is very historic not to mention the state of Virginia (Old Dominion). Virginia is very beautiful and cultural. I completely agree with you when you say that Richmond has been a purely historical Southern city but in today's terms it has the characteristics of a Northern city.

  • @Reiser86 Thanks! Besides the radar detector ban, I love Virginia haha. Like you said, it is such a beautiful and historic city. Richmond is also a cool town with many charming neighborhoods and *lots* of history.

  • Wonderful. Congratulations.

Cheers from your Brazilian friend, Marcos

  • @taffarelvl obrigado!

  • Nice video! Happy New Year!

  • @bschaven Thank you and same to you!

  • Perfect work. that interchange is likely pushing 110+ ft, and it's freakn amazing.

  • @ScrewdUPClickV2 Thanks, bro! And, yeah I wouldn't doubt that a bit since the 145 ft. James River Bridge is immediately to the right in the video (you can see part of it). That interchange always impresses me everytime I drive through it.

  • great, thanks

  • You always have nice songs in your vids. Who is singing the song in this vid?

  • Comment removed

  • @libranonpoint I found the song :)

  • Video looks awesome man! Great view. The roads look like they are in better shape than when I went through there in 2010. I am glad they in the process of replacing those old 1950's era bridges downtown, should make travel a lot smoother when its done.

  • @VaFreeways Thanks, dude! Yeah, the pavement through downtown was a little bumpy, but it was bearable haha. I think they're paving portions of 95 south of downtown judging by some equipment I saw sitting on the side of the road

  • @VaFreeways btw, it's good to hear from you again! all of the roadfilmers and I have missed you!

  • @CosmoPhotography Thanks man... 2011 has been kind of a hectic (and busy) year. I am hoping to do more roadfilming in 2012.

  • Nice video, Evan. Haven't been through Richmond in over twelve years. Last time, I went was on my eighth grade class trip.

  • @Bryant5493 Thanks, Bryant! Richmond is a great town with a lot of recent development in and around the downtown area in recent years. I haven't stopped and walked around in the city since 2007, but I think it's definitely worth a visit back for both of us!

  • obrigado.

  • Great! Keep it up!

  • @igcompany Thanks!

  • .. huge bridge - luv the smoke! ..

  • @GeoffJennyOliver lol thanks, Geoff!

  • Nice video, great job and looking forward to seeing more. Thanks for making us enjoy!

  • @snownorthbcn Thank you! I'm glad you enjoy the videos.
