The song was written around 1970 by the late Clarence White (June 7, 1944 – July 15, 1973) who was a guitar player for Nashville West, The Byrds, Muleskinner, and the Kentucky Colonels. He was killed by a drunk driver while loading gear after a Kentucky Colonels gig. Lover of the Bayou is on the Byrds Untitled album. This is a great cover, and a distinctly different arrangement.
