    Still, there's not doubt door to door sales is a good opportunity to make a some money for those who are capable of doing it and willing to do it.

    I'm hopeless at selling and I can't tell people what I don't think is true, so I'll never make any money out of it.

  • I work from home and people come knocking at my door at the least convenient times (which is frankly anytime for me). I understand that people have to make a living but to me it feels like an intrusion--about half the time I don't answer and pretend not to be in. I hate being sold to.

  • I spent years selling door to door. I've learned to not sell any product at the door. I sell the appointment and the appointment only. I set an appointment with the understanding the both spouses will be home. But, first and foremost, you really have to believe in your product. If you can't pitch with conviction, then you're just telling a lie. After all, "selling is telling" and if you tell the truth, just don't tell.

  • @cptnsmelly I would recommend switching to selling life insurance and replacing mortgage insurance. Mortgage insurance (MI) is underwritten at time of death and therefore not guaranteed to pay out, MI is on a declining balance so you pay for the full amount say 500,000 but it only pays out the value of your mortgage that used to be 500,000, but is now only 80,000 say. I can think of so many more reasons that every home owner with mortgage insurance would want this apposed to health insurance.hth

  • Why, in your opinion, should myself or anyone else be bothered at home by salesmen? I have a "no soliciting" sign on my door, yet salesmen ignore it. I despise advetising to no end. My home is, and should be, my private place. I am tired of you people thinking it is ok to interupt my day, by trying to sell me things I don't want. If I want to buy something, I go to the store to buy it. In my opinion, door to door sales as well as telemarketing should be banned.

It only takes 2 mins to listen to what they have to say and say no thanks. Those kind of people have my respect. But dont be a prick and slam the door in someones face when they mean no harm and are just giving you insight of a product or service that you might not know of and could be a great deal if you are looking for something like that.

    There was a day when a self motivated person could go door to door and get a step up in life and get respect for it. Today there seems to be a disdain for this lost art of people skills. If you are willing to sell door to door, there is really no competition. Just be allied to truth.

  • @mikediponti I am glad you found me to be well spoken but I am not a crook. The buyer has all the advantages. They can send you away at any time, they can give you an excuse to not buy from you. WE don't force people to buy unless they want to. All my products are fully guaranteed, so any unhappy customers can get a refund.

  • thanks, it is also good to be sincere about what you are selling, direct eye contact, a comfortable give and take conversation. A little confidence goes a long way.   • As a career direct salesman, i'm proud that someone posted a youtube video of this. These damn magazine, kirby, coupon book, junk product sales wannabe's fukk my industry up. No matter how good you are, it's almost impossible to sell in a major city now. If you're good like me and work only rural markets you'll always have money.

    You are obviously not a salesman or you would recognize the value of these instructional vids. The names you mentioned are good motivational speakers however Carl introduces specificity to the door approach.

  • Don't take advice from an old man! And don't buy the dvd! Get training from a professional like Brian Tracey or Tom Hopkins!

  • We don't want any! It's handeling objections that matter, anyone can knock on an door for various reasons...people will open the door...getting past objections is what matters...if someone invites you in...your almost home....it's getting in the door that counts!

I run a large sales firm in Seattle and after implamenting the techniques I learned in "Selling door to door in a post 911 world" and teaching them to my salesanagers our numbers increased significantly. If you are in door to door, this is the best money you will ever spend
