@lovelymix1 I highly doubt that aside for the Earth almost being Data drained (kudos to who gets it), any of this was a punishment. The cycle of reincarnation is the natural order of things in this game, and the only way of trascending it is achieving enlightment. Why serph and Sera returned despite reaching it could be because only Seraph as such reached it, but not their individual parts, or decided to stay and try to help the others to reach it (this happened once according to hindu myth)
Honestly, I felt like true Star Trek freak when I heard "Data" at the start of the game... i was like "WTF???!! I will see my favorite android here??!! He's the God of their world?????????!!!!!"
Well, considering where all main characters were in first Devil Saga and the ending of the second one, it might be true...
To be honest this ending makes me wander if Seraph recieved enlightment then... hmm... Will Aleph (Hijiri) will ever be forgiven. Since this version of YHVH seems more forgiving.
Note: I say this since cause in Nocturne it was explained that there are multiple realities in existence. Since we know that the SMTverse is a multiverse.
@SolBadguyXX I'm pretty sure YHVH and God Brahman are two different beings, one is based on the Judeo-Christian concept of God and the other is based on the Hindu concept.
@SolBadguyXX I would think that Serph and Sera reached enlightment the moment their bodies connected into one. I mean they both died at the facility, when they began flying they were no longer alive , and as soon as they connected they became one and gained the way to nirvana, even though they had to fight the Brahma god after... Brahma is a god in hinduism aswell as the one who Buddha somewhat went against...since he believed that the religion and what it all stood for only meant suffering...
@AmsomniaStudios@AmsomniaStudios Brahmā and Brahman are not the same thing, the one you mention is indeed a god with personal qualities and an actual gender and family, and belongs to a trinity where he is the creator, vishnu the preserver and Shiva the destroyer. The one they fought is different, is a cosmic spirit that is the origin and support of effing everyithing. Is genderless, absolute and infinite (did you notice that Brahman had no end? that machine extended itself endelessly)
@VaatiOfDarkness No... I just said exactly the opposite. Even though they may be equivalents, they are protrayed differently because according to christianity the biggest god has something similar to a personality and wants the erradication of chaos (lucifer). Brahman is just... what he is, everything is brahman.
And Oh lol, now the terrorists have to take care of both west and east then
@buntado6 Woops, I never saw the comment about YHVH. :P That does explain God's appearance in SMT II (as well as Megami Tensei II) and Brahman's vague appearance.
I something wonder if this is a happy ending or a tragic ending. Well, if you follow what the cat said, none of the dead have reached enlightenment so they're sent back to earth as a form of spiritual punishment. But...seein' the whole gang again re-born and having fun, is this form of punishment really that bad?
I'm impressed by how introspective this ending is...and surprised that Sera and Serph are also re-born (weren't they (as one) suppose to be w/ the cat on a spiritual journey?)
Yeah...I never quite get that. Did both of them share a portion of their data to combine into Seraph, and their remaining data just stood by the sidelines before they get sent back to Earth?
Think about it; Serph and Sera weren't even really aware they had merged until it was pointed out to them. It was going to be a gradual process, with Schroedinger's true form representing the final product. Their individual data was reincarnated, but the data that was Seraph wasn't.
Okay, let me try to elaborate this through example:
If Seraph was killed, it wouldn't also be the death of Serph and Sera?
How the heck can Seraph and Serph + Sera be the same yet different people? If I remember something from the game "SMT: Nocturne", if two bodies are fused into one, shouldn't the two bodies no longer exist?
Ok let's see if i can make it simple the data of Serph and Sera merged together but it was Seraph that reach enlightenment together as one being but Serph and Sera serperatly didn't so Serph and Sera reincarnated while Seraph moved on hope that makes things easier to understand
Now on another matter.... I wonder if jenna is still a herma... poor girl would have the worst luck in the world, having an extra gift TWICE

@lovelymix1 I'm pretty sure Serph and Sera are based on Shiva and Shatki, since the game is based on Hindu mythology, then there all one in the same.

@buntado6 So essentially (in SMT anyway), Brahman and YHVH are the same?
I'm just waiting for them to make Allah the last boss of one of these games :P

Those two will bear witness to many realities...I wonder if perhaps maybe the Persona series is one of those realities.

This comment has received too many negative votes show
The Ending was a little bit chesse ("Please God return Earth to normal"),they should just die painfull and thats it...End..no reborn stuff^^
That would be great and compares to the good Story, but getting 0815 like the other RPGs to the end was pretty unexpecting for me.

Well, I guess neither of them were able to reach enlightenment individually, so they went back.
