@NeoxideMolten as soon as the the time went down the amount of traffic almost broke their website and the server went from the 100 of invited to 1000 in 2 or 3 minutes i, myself had my shockwave crash and could not reconnect until that point it was good fun

Oh god, What makes me the maddest about this is that they are only using this as advertisement to get hired. They are litterally being total dicks about how they advertise this, "Do your part in history" "Be part of history" "Be part of a world record!" I honestly hope they just get shot down and told, publically that they didn't beat anyone and its all been there done that. Specifically, after WW2 online came out, someone made a game with up to 100K players to show how easy it can be.

This really is depressing. They act like what they are doing is so beyond what anyone has done before when in reality, there record isn't even going to last a month. Planetside 2 beta starts somewhere around march from what we have been led to believe, and supposedly thats going to have thousands of people.

Not to mention, I think world war 2 online beat there record before they even went for it.

@iWearGlassesLOL I mean to tell you planetside 2 will have more then 1000, It will have thousands. Probably 3000, The maps are 8 kilometers by 8 kilometers with no loading screens. (Developers twitter as a source, He said there was over 1000)

WW2 online had more then 3000, but there were loading screens. However, you COULD get more then 1000 people in one place at a time "Read several of the accounts where they did that"

Guinness just needs to look at the past, really..

Okay, you know how Crysis was a tech demo? Showing off spectacular shaders and lighting and all that jazz? This, too, is a tech demo, just not one showcasing graphics. This was made to prove that they have a server structure that can bear the load of tons of shit happening per second. Graphics are an afterthought.

What it seems everyone is missing is that Pikkotekk is not a game company. This is just going to be a demonstration of their network software. So they can sell it to other game makers. That is why there's all this advertisement about it being a 1 time deal.

Graphics do not matter in this case as they'd put undue strain on the client-side for what is a server-side test.

1 time only? So we'll just download the game and then delete it since it's not really a deep game? Anyway, 1000 players in a game is a ton. A lot like many MMORPG games. Graphics are fine enough to run versus 1000 players.

So what's the game like? Battlezone vs. Shooters? Sounds interesting yet basic enough for 1000 people. I bet it would be mass chaos.

@looserkuka DICE have stated that this won't happen. They have the capability to make 256 player servers now, and they think that the game simply won't be fun with this many players.

@greysion Even though we made a disclaimer where we kind of explained that this was by far not the best looking game and that the networking was the real eye candy, people simply assumed that there was some kind of trade off between graphics and having a massive battle.
