@motley13mars They're two different things; one's an overdrive and one's a distortion pedal. They alike though, but the overdrive pedal (DS-1) sort of the boosts or thickens the distortion (MT-2) so if you wanted to play hardcore metal like me, I'd get both. But I'm not a big Boss fan, with the MT-2 being the exception.

@itsmarshmallowz I had one like 15 years ago. If you dial up sparingly it can add some awesome harmonics and crunch to your amp sound. This is about what it sounds like through a clean amp channel. I never liked it that way, real brittle. I liked playing through two amps at the same time, you could get a huge sound. Don't judge it by this video everyone, it sounds pretty cool, and feels good to play through. Not my thing these days but it was when I liked heavier stuff.

I don't see why some of the people on here diss Jason Spencer so much. No, he's no fucking Steve Vai, Joe Satriani, or Yngwie Malmsteen, but he's still good. Also, there's nothing wrong with him running a lot of pentatonic licks. Most of early metal and early thrash used mainly pentatonic scales for soloing.

I don't know why people recommend this pedal for Metallica covers. MT-2 sucks. It gives you a high tingy digital sound instead of that raw ballsy high gain/overdrive sound that James Hetfield has. It's good for metalcore and nu-metal music. But heavy metal/thrash metal no way in hell....

I didnt really like the Metal Core pedal because it let out too much of that buzzing noise, but there's always a way around that as well. The MT-2 didn't have that problem as it was, plus it was a little bit more affordable than would be the Metal Core. Power Stack is good, but it just didn't fit my type of playing

@BecauseIgothigh143 it sounds descent but mid-scooping is something you should avoid. if you play with a band and you turn the mids so low, you wont hear the guitar and the drums will be dominant.
