a) Of course the generals know more about commanding and war and all that stuff. Thats the job. That is why they spend all that time (as you pointed out) doing what they do. I work as a civil maritime officer (you know... normal ships with bananas and oil and such) and I trust I know how to command a ship that it gets to whereever it has to get safely. I don't think Obama could.
@Daelyas My issue with Obama, apart dfrom I don't like his politics, (I didn't like Clinton's either) is that unlike other Democratic presidents, he is far too ideologicla and not at all pragmatic. The problem with a liberal ideologue is that America is a conservative country, yet Obama thinks this is Sweden. I like most thinks he's wrong and is not the right man for the job!

Not fighting when you have to is NOT the right thing to do because all too often conflict in the 20th century is ethnic, racial or national and genocide results. a) Of course the generals know more about commanding and war and all that stuff. Thats the job. That is why they spend all that time (as you pointed out) doing what they do. I work as a civil maritime officer (you know... normal ships with bananas and oil and such) and I trust I know how to command a ship that it gets to whereever it has to get safely. I don't think Obama could.

@eclecticsteph there is no end to war in the middle east. you have no idea what you're talking about. this country is not free because of troops. you want to see impressive jobs in the military? go look at the US soldiers killing children for fun and torturing for no reason.

How do you "finish" a war against an enemy that refuses to wear a uniform, fights among civilians and due to a lack of any recognizable command structure can't offer a meaningful surrender? America went into Iraq to get rid of WMD's... oops, I mean Saddam and they did. So now what? How do you define victory in these circumstances? When can America declare "Mission Accomplished" (for real this time) and go home?

@studentofsmith how do you finish a war? you kill everything until the other side gives up. thats how war is supposed to be fought. thank god desert shield/storm wasnt this way when i was over there. but if the us govt wants to fight wars like nam and iraq/afgan then why bother.

@studentofsmith Mission was already accomplished; Saddam Hussein is dead. They just want to drag it out further to make more money off of it. what will get our soldiers out of Iraq and Afghanistan? By getting a commander-in-chief that actually has the BALLS to do so and SUCCEED in keeping his promises.

wars are never finished, they very nature of war and it's consequences provokes a desire for retaliation
and animosity among the warring parties for decades if not centuries to come.
We can't finish this war but we can't stop being prepared to finish this war.
Al Qaeda's command structure is unrecognizable because it doesn't really have one.
What ever cave Osama goes to, that's where it is.

@studentofsmith Quite simply, you fight fire with fire. This problem is not to be approached militarily, it requires covert undercover agents that have blend into the population and are indistinguisable from your average Arab. We infiltrate their organization, find the leaders, and when the time is right, let the military off the leash with the help of "filthblood" protocols that allow us to use their own religion against them. We can also recruit local Muslims loyal to the Qu'ran. Thats how!

@davedavedaveannoy1 Interesting. I certainly agree that fighting terrorism is more of an intelligence and policing problem and that the U.S. has consistently underestimated the value of "human intelligence" in favor of spy satellites and other whizz-bang gadgetry.
That being said by "filthblood protocols" are you suggesting they target the family members of known or suspected terrorists? That seems unworthy of a society that places a strong emphasis on the idea of personal responsibility.

@studentofsmith No. no, no. We wouldn't harm their families, that would drive more people to their cause. I was suggesting using a tactic General Patton used against muslim extremists disrupting his operations. He used their religion against them, dipping smg, assault rifle, and machine gun rounds in pig blood. The muslims see it as a filthy thing so it would be adding a massive fear effect to our military. He had many of the militants publicly executed. He put up 20-40 of them up against a wall

He brought in a bunch of pigs, slaughtered them, and took a belt of ammunition from a 50. cal browning then ran it through the blood repeatedly as the militants watched, and opened fire. When all of them had been killed he ground up the pigs, and buried their remains with the militants placed face down away from heaven. He then released the 2-4 observers who told their clan and the military

@davedavedaveannoy1 I'll have to think on that. I'm a little uncomfortable with the idea of disrespecting anyone's religion. Doubtless there are patriotic Muslims serving in the armed forces even as we speak.
But that must balanced with the advantages of psychological warfare.

@studentofsmith We would have to experiment it with small bands of independent terrorists first of course to see how it would work in practice. But yes, it does have its downsides. Nevertheless, our current methods are not entirely effective and it would help to have something that scares them sh**less, and due to the vast variation of religion, culture, and beliefs of our nation it would be difficult for them to counter it. But its merely a suggestion.

@studentofsmith The moment jews get their hand on Iraq, with controlling the general pillars of power, which are finance, media and religion, either hidden of to a degree open, the americans will leave.
After they got Russia, with the killing of the Zar family and implenting the jewish communist system, the usa with the federal reserve, europe, with destroying the wealth with two world wars, than buying the countries up for pennies (privatisation), the middle east is next. It´s gonna be bloody.

That answer is relatively simple. But hard to comprehand the logistics of it.
How do you finish such a war you ask?
Simply eliminate the occupation.
Simply eliminate the alliances we have with Isreal and foreign nations.
Simply eliminate the cont
