Despite it's very non-Star Trek look, this is one of the sturdiest and most durable Star Trek toy that Diamond Select has made. I actually like it more than their TOS communicator.
One of the weakest Trek props I've ever seen. Bulky, rectangular junk with Phillips? head screws in the 23rd century? You know that propmaker never worked again. No style to it like the original Wae Chung.
Nice to see this prop realized. Kudos. One thing - it makes no sense to hear both sides of a conversation like that. You guys are voice sample crazy sometimes.
Sorry DST, had to 'dislike' this, and it pains me to say I don't think I'll be buying one after seeing this. Aside from it featuring dialogue it has no real business having, you've got the lights wrong. HOW did you get the lights wrong? The upper and lower clear section lights are supposed to be RED not brilliant white. On top of that, the red indicator light should be steady when the comm is open, and the upper section blinks on and off when the comm is open.
@HowlinMadRobWolf I see your point about the sounds. I guess they were going for nostalgic lines from TWOK - the "bloodsucker" line, the "Khaaaan!" scream, and whatnot. Well, that works just fine if you just want the communicator as a toy or as a display piece, but if you're trying to use it as a costume prop, you'd want lines that fit better with just generally communicating with people, not lecturing people about being bloodsuckers! Pity, I guess, they did pick great ones for the TOS comm!
I like how it looks worse than the TOS one. That's the clunky 80's for you.
Still a pretty cool prop.

The comm looks nice, but I sure hope there is a sound FX only setting.
I hate talking props!!!!!

@unfated1 Fortunately, to play the dialouge sounds, you need to press a button in the back.
Otherwise, it just makes to chirping sound when you open and close it. You don't have to hear the talking.
