I really hope that one day our people would understand that following western civilization is a sign of weakness. We have better things to offer the west, yet we continue to choose to be their shadows, for how long are we just going to blindly follow them. It is true that we are liberated, but we are still under the modern type of slavery. Wake up Africa, let us raise our kids to be leaders, and not followers.
what a shame....adopting western idea of beauty is not a sign of being civilized. I thought all the girls, in Miss Virgin Mekele or not are all beautiful. I would rather see you pushing and teaching safe sex rather than expecting the impossible. Abstenence is not the same as virginity.......virginity is more of a male dominated idea of purity and it is ok for our girls not to be virgin.
Happy to see such activity. This helps for strengthening other girls in keeping their virginity until they are ready to exercise sex by their own choice. Hope it will be done every year and other city will share this good experience.
Wow! I didn't know there's virginity beauty contest in Adey Mekelle. Just curious though, how do they qualify/disqualify these contestants to enter this pagent? Good job gals you have come this far to keep it, I must say it is very hard at our generation with all the media, films and western/Abesha videos clips altering our way of thinking about women and sex.
