I think you tried to play out the character to much, It kinda took away the impact of what you where saying.

Artists! So Avant-garde in their ways! Maybe one benefit would be you could focus on the food and what they were saying without having to think at all about what you are gonna say. Sorta like watching TV while eating. Oh, exciting.
