FYI... Gatka is a sport that was created by our (the Sikhs) guru, Guru Hargobind Ji. It involves a self defense and focus for all Gursikhs. Our Guru Ji made in honor of the martyred Guru Arjan Dev Ji. But, not all of it was used as physical purposes. It required to balance the spirituality of a Sikh and become one with Vaheguru (God). After each war, Guru Hargobind would walk around the battlefield with water, giving it to any soldier, whether opponent or ally. This is the powere of guru

@HarkytheCarFreek Wasn't it the british who created Gatka? Because Gatka was originally Shashtar Vidya, and Shashstar Vidya was so effective agianst the british (one man was trained to kill 200 people!!), so the british banned the martial art, and created Gatka, which is more a sport. I am not sure about this, and you might have a better answer.

@ymerdrengene In overall terms, Gatka is also a form of shashtar vidhya. It is quite hard to demonstrate shashtar vidhya because it is done to kill. Gatka can be demonstrated.

Did the Sikhs use Mogul armors or are there armors that are Sikh? I ask because i am an amature armorer, and love things that are not common place.If so could someone provide some links to examples and patterns?

Sikhs of the past made forts n Gurudwaras made of heavy stones which was like going to heavy weight exercises.Old sikhs wore armor which itself weighed between 40 kg to 60kg depending upon their capacity n gender.females wore comparatively less.Mai Bhago was one to wore more than men.Sikhs of today r not wearing armors n fighting real battle style.Add armors too n weight lifting exercises.become super strong.Lions need exercises,Kesh(orders of Guruji),weapons n Naam Simran n discipline.WKK WKF.

THIS FILM IS SO COOL!! GATKA RULES!! The Swordplay is amazing! I just Wished that George Lucas would have considered practicioners of Gatka as Choreographers for JEDI LIGHT SABRE FIGHT SCENES!! That woulda blown the world away. Its a Shame though, come to think of it I heard a Rumour that the JEDI are based on Sikhism.
