What a shameful piece of hollywood propaganda bullshit. Most people have no idea that 60,000,000 people died as a result of WW2. It wasnt a war fought to "exterminate jews" Jews simply caused that war just as they did WW1 and now WW3. In typical evil jew fashion, they now absurdly re-create themselves as heroic. lol. They are great masters of fiction. Do your homework America. For starters, study and learn about how not one person EVER was put into a "gas chamber". There was no such thing.
It's supposed to be part propaganda film, Captain Obvious. It's the art of the film. See, if you actually paid attention to it rather than being an absentminded, low attention span fuckface, maybe you'd know that Goebbels was involved in the German propaganda film industry and this fact contributed to the fictional story of the film. People went to this expecting to see "Nazis" get their heads bashed in, which they did, but then were introduced to the German version of Inglourious Basterds-
You clearly don't know too much about cinema or art. Otherwise, you would have understood the film. It's a work of genius. I mean, it's a "Dirty Dozen"/"Guns of the Navarone"/guys going on a mission WWII film about propaganda film, posing a propaganda film image, with some Nazisploitation elements, all paced and somewhat "orchestrated" as a spaghetti western. It's high art, and there's a reason why Tarantino fans as well as critics loved and still do love it. You're just not old enough for it.
The 1st scene in the house is fantastic, Col Landa remains happy and pleasant throughout but with an underlining 'fuck with me at your peril' presence.
I love the part where he smokes his pipe and congratulates mr ladpatite on his delicious milk - such an intense atmosphere done with a smile
Great review, possibly the best I've seen. But both Michael fassbender and mike meyers put on accents - to be as "british" as possible. I thought mike meyers was hilarious with his over the top manners and phrases. I've seen it 3 times. It's the type of movie you just want to watch again. My favorite of the Tarantino films I've seen, by far.
Movie is great if you watch parts. All together it didn't hold up as a cohesive movie for me.
I found the chick's jewish revenge story line with the hero Nazi guy and all their movie talk really boring. It was my least favourite part of the movie.
the SS officer is the best character and performance barre none.
ok, great movie, great cast, great almost everything, but why does landa fall so easily for aldo at the end, that part there didnt convince me a bit... also why are there only two guards outside of the cinema where there are 4 of the most important persons of the german side of the war... i mean not convincing... i know its all fiction and everything but thats kind of dumb... 2 guards?! too easy
who brad? no no he wasn't the best Hans was the best character and the actor was the best, brad pitt plays himself pretty much in every role he is a good actor but in no way the best by any means
I was having so much fun with Col. Landa, that I honestly forgot about the Basterds throughout much of it. Not that they weren't good, because they were great, too. It was all great.
no its not his finest. i loved it, i loved his characters his sequences, as always some of his shots were perfectly executed, i just felt, despite all that as a film, it was a little sloppy.
I didnt like the movie to be honest... I dont even really know why, just bored me... the first 20 minutes or so was incredible though, i loved that, its just nothing seemed to happen quite so epic after.
It was worth seeing in the cinema because of the way it was shot, the characters were cool, Brad Pitt was fairly average. I liked how with the oriental format of Kill Bill there was more scope, but in here the template of the WWII film only worked in some places. The Gestapo guy was great and there were a few good tension building moments but apart from that it was fairly forgettable as a whole. Compared to Jackie Brown or Pulp Fiction it's nothing much at all.
The girl I live with can't think of a movie released this year which she thought was more entertaining than Basterds.
While I think District 9 was a better film, personally, Inglourious Basterds would definitely be my second pick for the year.
I like movies that make you think. And while you really have to shut your mind off for some points of view with this film, it opens up the cinematographer side of my head to analysis and enjoy Inglourious Basterds as (as they say) Quentins' Finest.
the movie was great the dialogue brilliantly written the characters extraordinarily well played....if i had 20 thumbs to put up i would. an overall great movie
This movie was amazing I had never laughed so hard and been so utterly horrified at the same time. It was two and half hours it felt short. A truly fantastic movie that everyone should see.
I loved every minute of this movie and plan on seeing it again as Im sure its going to get better on repeat viewings. All in all great film and easily one of the best films of the year!

I agree. I thought Landa's breakdown at the end contradicted his earlier cunning persona...I thought that could have been handled differently.

@mrtony80 I think that was kind of the point. He seems all composed and cunning and then he just breaks the hell down.
