Mark Strong has been playing only stereotypical villains lately (Sherlock Holmes, Kick Ass, Robin Hood, and next year in Green Lantern) - What a shame, I think even now he would make an awesome unconventional protagonist!
I ve just finished the book, which was lets say quite good but this movie adaptation makes it seem even worse. The actors arent well chosen either. Just my opinion.
@toxiku As compared to what? This adaptation is the one truest to the book. All the others take "dramatic licence" and add needless dialogue or so-called "modernization" which just cheapens the story. This version was and still is the best so far of any. The only negative was not showing the warming of the relationship and subsequent friendship between Emma and Jane after Jane's secret engagement with Frank was revealed.
