  • this version is an utter and blunt insult!!! to peter, to the listeners

  • If i was peter, i would track them down and beat their friggin asses, this is fucked up right here.

  • But this version rips the folky spirituality completely out of the lyrics. It loses all meaning.

  • petebj, it loses all meaning only if you let it lose all meaning....this is Erasure's version and it probably will have a different meaning to PG's; spiritual or not depending on the listener and how he/she interpret it...but it is most definately not a 'folky' version :)

Courses for horses and all that jazz.

  • It's all about 'feeling' and being able to appreciate the new and different.

Personally I absolutely adore Erasure's version and the film clip is raw, industrial and sexy.

    I LOVE IT A LOT!

Some people are limited to what type of music they like.....it is the creative, lateral thinking mind that is open to new and wonderful music, possessing eclectic taste, whilst still being discerning. Amen

  • why he's disguise?? aw lol love this song so much xD

  • Fugly!

  • Personally, I think this version is way more powerful than the original. This is simply a matter of all you people being old farts who doesn't know how to appreciate electronic music.

And for your info, this was actually a bigger hit than the inferior original, charting higher on the UK charts.

Peter Gabriel is nowhere near the success Vince Clarke has had.

  • LoL, comparing this to Peter Gabriel's, FFS.

Charting higher in the charts doesn't mean anything, just uncultured people & kids listening.

  • screw you all. This song is good no matter who plays it. Thats the fucking point idiots.

  • It's like a real bad drag show!

  • BLASPHEMY!!!

  • Am I allowed to laugh? I really want to laugh. Sorry... but I do =X

  • Doesn't an artist have to give consent for a remake of their song?? I can't believe Peter would ever give consent for this...they RUINED an outstanding song. This song is about a personal experience of Peter's...no one (ESPECIALLY ERASURE) has any business remaking a song like that....I love Erasure, but this song shouldn't have even crossed their minds...

  • Yes, everybody can cover a song if they want, the royalties still goes to the composer. Even you can cover this song and release it.

Having said that, maybe you should realise that since this cover was a actually a bigger hit than the original, they did old, bald has-been Peter Gabriel quite a favour!

  • The original is a powerful piece of music, spiritually. It has an amazing affect with beautiful singing. Doing that has nothing to affect people with. It has no soul.

  • This is a mockery of the original. They have a foul nerve to destroy such beautiful music.

  • this isn't my favourite erasure song, and i think that peter gabriels version was better, but vince and andy are just trying to pay tribute to people that influenced them, like their abba stuff.

  • this fuckin blows! peter is rolling in his future grave.

  • then you have to have no clue of music, faggot

  • muy buen cover !!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • andy rules and everyone is jeolous

  • is that a frickin CORSET??! O_O

  • Andy haven´t fear to the critics!!

  • uh.... what in the holy fuck is that thing on stage wearing?

  • I love their cover of this song. Give this band credit where it's due.

  • Thank melancholy1rose...

  • i think it sounds better in 7/4 time, but it's still a good cover. that guy's a bit scary tho. O_O

  • ^ i meant 7/4, obviously

  • It's an impressively good transformation of Peter Gabriel's 5/4 time to 4/4.

  • Looks like Lisa Stansfield-but I don't ever remember her acting that feminine. Lisa, what has become of you?!

  • Is that Lisa Stansfield?

  • Peter Gabriel's cover was a Single In The

Late 1970s, but Erasure Charted Their New

Hit, "Solsbury Hill" In Early 2003.

  • I Thought Phil Collins Realised Their Single,

In Late 1985, with a Song, "Bramberry Hill"

But It's A Great Song, I Listened This Song

when I Was 5 Years Old.

  • Good cover but still, peter is unbeatable

  • It sure is right now. We've had a really good two weeks of great weather: sunny, warm, and absolutely delightful after the harshest winter in recent memory. Thanks.

  • Thanks for clearing that up. I just got confused by all the postings spelling it Solsbury. I understand now. I live in Canada, Toronto actually.

  • Hi hopefulever. I'm from Toronto too. Nice to see a YouTuber from the T Dot here.

  • very nice music, greetings;))

  • Isn't Solsbury actually spelled "Salisbury"? even though it's pronounced solsbury. Just asking.

  • sou fã de peter gabriel e quando ouvi pela 1ª vez esta versão estranhei mas depois de a ouvir varias vezes reconheço q os erasure fizeram um grande trabalho!!

  • fisrt time i saw this video in 2007 i thought andy was a woman but then a friend told me she was a he

  • I don't blame you.. D:

  • |Love Erasure but they do nothing for this old classic.

  • The most electrifying feature of the original song is its 7/4 bar. This was destroyed in this cover version.

    Sorry, I don't like it.

  • OMG, what did they do to this wonderful song? They butchered it! Making it a meaningless 4/4 bar electro dance tune.

  • so much fun to listen and observe. had no choice

  • major fail

  • I had no idea Erasure covered this Peter Gabriel classic!

  • I love this video; every time that I listen to it makes me forget my problems, and I begin to imagine that I am in the bowling but important of good airs, being the queen of the night

  • I like this video

  • Vanguardiste, i like it cos it´s shoking.

  • Yep, welcome. I am glad you came.

  • I wouldn't say its better then the original version but its good in its own way.

  • me gusta mucho esta cancion, me hace sentir muy bien, nose esto neogay me mata!!!!!!!!

  • Gr8 version of a realy good song, is this the new Erasure single?

  • no this is off their cover album, "other people's songs"

their new single is called "sunday girl"

  • I Agree

  • Andy looks like a freak in this video....glad tattoo was fake.

VInce should stay away from directing.

  • Superb portrayal of a great original. Love the way Erasure have tweaked the track to give it their own spin. Great post, Kudos!

  • Thanks dude i have been looking for this everywhere! thanks for the post! good work!

  • This is one of my favorate songs. Much better than the origanl verion.

  • I agree!!!!!!!
