  • Raising the bow (uchiokoshi) has its origin to my knowledge in horse archery. It's easier to draw the bow without the head of the horse in the way (look up yabusame).

It's also easier to draw the bow from above than to just pull the string back like in western archery. It's also a method of aiming, because you pull the arrow parallel towards your body while lowering the bow. And it looks nice.

  • @Tooboolar Teaching us many things, thank you.

  • Dear Kazuo,

Why do they lift the bow and arrow above their heads and bring it down to their eye to finally shoot? I have only lifted it to my eye (cheek) for sighting. Do you have any footage of Taiko Drum performances?

  • @scldrgnfly shoot a game of 197 feet away, Japan is a bow to shoot horizontally.

    No taiko video. Sorry scldrgnfly

  • Dear Kazuo,

You are a genius! Thank you for seeing such wonderful things and sharing them with the world! Japan has such a rich culture! You live in a fantastic place! Did you ever think about the fact that we both, all of us live in the shadows of the same moon.

  • @scldrgnfly Thanks to you dear scldrgnfly.
