Such a shame that amazing stadium has barely been used, they're turning it into a shopping mall now :P undoubtedly the best t.v Olympics ever but according to the BBC there was no vibe at all in the city whereas when you compare that to the street celebrations in Vancouver. Let's just appreciate Human creativity at its finest. You have to admit that their fireworks/lighting/acts were pure genius. Other than that, u certainly can critique the Chinese gov't for all its SERIOUS shortcomings. Of course, China has its share of problems with respect to Human Rights violations/ Animal Rights/ Pollution/ Ecological problems.

But the Olympics were a marvel, you have to admit that- Sorry, but the majority of people around the world who watched it were left impressed.

SORRY Atlanta, Seoul, Athens, Sydney and the rest...Beijing was the BEST (I doubt that Brazil will match up, since China has set the bar REALLY REALY HIGH in terms of budget, creativity, lighting, fireworks etc).

This time around, I was FAR MORE interested in watching the Opening and Closing ceremonies, rather than any of the Sports itself! Usually it is the other way around.....China is officially a GLOBAL GIANT.

The best part was the performers on the memorial tower made an image of flowers and BJ Olympics icon while 16 red yarn strips were rising to top of the stadium. It's called Fuwa lucky cloud. Missed in this video though.
