there already is a professional symphony orchestra in India. The Symphony Orchestra of India, at the NCPA Mumbai whose standard is quite high(Mumbai audience is very tough to please, with some of the best orchestras performing here). He may be a great composer, he may be doing a great thing by setting up a conservatory in India, but he should get the facts right first.

PS.-If you live in Mumbai, go to a SOI concert. They play every Sept and Feb. Their concerts are really good.

really? I know that its the other way round... western copies rahman. I do agree that there are other bollywood music directors that do shameless copy but not rahman. He improvises...

@SuperFuckindia you're right in a way actually, and brother, dont expect others to understand what we understand...they first need to get over their fanaticism and then they can face the truth. I was saying that A.R.Rahman actually copies his own music. Most(about 98%) of his songs are from the same raga( the alignment of the musical notes)...i dont know what its called but its...C,D,Eb,F,G,Ab,Bb,C. occasionally he changes a note.I think you should mention this when you are criticising Rahman.
