Ive got a 61' gmc 3/4 ton with the original 305d series engine. right now its got a camper bolted the the frame of it which i plan on taking off and throwing a flatbead on it and staing some 2 X 4s and put em down i cant wait to find a new flatbead frame
Almost 30 episodes in this 61 GMC series so far, these vid's will be classics, a huge help for the GM truck crowd... With the suspension and drivetrain almost done it's soon time to fix the rust issues. Not that I'm in any hurry, the longer it takes the better because I will hate to see this series end.
Gosh Rapsrod---Is this a comment or a "SMART" ass remark.. I don't know how to take it... But I will go with the comment, it will make me sleep better tonite knowing that someone out there really likes my videography... Thanks PETE
Please, please tell me you're gonna fuel inject the original 305 V6, and not swap it out for a Ch*vy mill! I've not seen GMC's 'big block V6' done up with injection yet, and would dearly love to!
Hint - You'll probably want to exchange the 1bbl manifold for a later Stromberg WW-series manifold. The Strombegrs were two-barrel and the manifolds will support more power. I have one, if you're interested, from my '63's original 305E (it's getting a 401M).
That 61 is so ME, and Minni, when Pete gives you a hard time with the video, Send him to bed with no dinner, That will fix him, It works when it happens to me (King Bruno Rocks)
Yeah it's a rare-ity... Ive only seen two of them in my life... This motor is SOOOOOOO Strong, you can climb bolders with it, you can pull a train car with it.. First gear in this thing only goes 3 to 5 miles an hours.. Its INSANE, to think that this truck actuallly used to drive on the street... You know the thing only gets 5 miles to a gallon of gas, with a 1 barrell carb.... CRAZY MAN---CRAZY.......
GMC started developing their truck-only V6 in the mid-fifties. Production ran from '60 to '74 (big trucks only after '72) in 305ci (this truck), 351, 379, 401, 432, and 478. There were also the 637 V8 based on the same architecture, and the 702 "Twin Six" V12 it replaced (based on two 351s, but sharing a common block, crank and camshaft). You'll not find one in any Chevy pickup! These were GMC engines, only.
