Once I went down a very steep hill in Pennsylvania and someone on the other side of the interstate said on the radio "someone sure smoked 'em going down the other side". I looked in the mirror and smoke was boiling out the back of my truck. I thought "OH Shit" I hope this damn thing stops. It stopped fine, I got out and touched every single brake drum, a little warm but not hot. Found out later the jake was stuck still giving it fuel making all the smoke. My truck was a rag :(.

Once that diesel smoke gets in your lungs and the shifter in your hand, it's hard to get that out of your system. Most women don't understand. Trucking is a hard life on family. I've got a good job that I'm home every night but I can't wait until my retirement day. I'll have a new Pete in the driveway with a tanker ready to haul something.
@kungenism Depends on what you haulin' Macks for logs/gravel, Petes for heavy haul or just to look good., Freightliners over the road. Internationals for being cheap, ect.

Do any of u FNG's know what a K-Whopper. Road Commode, Large car, Jimmy, AM General, Shit Spreader, Too Tall Ford or freight shaker is.??? Tell me bout...Mount Eagle..Cabbage..The old grape vine..Donners. Ho chi minh hwy 1..and Da Cumberland. Damn The USA thru a windshield huh>??
K-Whopper = Kenworth a nice one ;), Road Commode= haha pretty much a toilet seat that u can carry around and sit on. Jimmy- GMC truck,AM General=is an American heavy vehicle manufacturer based in South Bend, Indiana, best known for the civilian Hummer and military . shit speader- internatinal brand, too tall ford- jacked up truck, freight shaker- freightliner trucks.Monteagle is most famous for the treacherous stretch of Interstate 24 that passes through the town please dont make me keep goin (:
@Boogie1951 well it is mont eagle cause i go over it daily, hate cabbage takes 30 minutes to get up loaded with carpet and bout a minute to get down, lol freightshaker is a freight liner i got a ticket for 90 in a 70 going down the twin sisters at 3 am damn cop.
i don't care!to much argument here!story be told it;s a old song,i believe origanally by dave duddley? not to sure. but good video ,great to see the canadian truck's pulling the biggest load's. for those that don't know.western star.proudly built in canada!!!!!
My company uses this song as background music for a training video...of course, they cut out the references to the three federal offenses (amphetamine use, overweight, logbook violation) that are in it.
Tell ya what...you put up with MADD, Parents against Tired Truckers and whatever other "advocacy groups" that are out there trying to convince America all truckers are contemptuous of human life, then try to get sentimental about a song where the protagonist does pep pills, falsifies his logbook and skirts weigh stations because he weighs 83,000 pounds. I guarantee you'll see this song differently.
Ten years, 1,250,000 something miles. I have since decided to come home and use my Naval training to keep me home.Working on diesels for the school district watching my children grow up. I miss it, but my kids are more important. I shall return one day, hopefully with anoth W-900L and a flatbed again!!!!
nice pics and an awesome song even now ! I like the US Volvo versions - here in europe we have just the small cabins - it's a shame ! But I looking forward to change that !!! greetings from Switzerland
Volvos really are great trucks...especially the ones with the 600hp engine that will pull a beer load through the Alleghanies without dropping below 65mph.
if anyone has a version of colorado kool-aid and frieghtliner fever please let me know. I dont like johnny paychecks version of colorado kool aid it sucks but its all i can find help
hahaha first time i heard that one the answer is no my dad and i drive one heavys hauling a shit like that so i became attached too W Stars use too be a peterbilt and volvo man..thanks for the comment
i actually got to see this being moved from Loydminster Alberta to Ft Mcmurray in northern alberta, the truck at the front does nothing except steer the load around, at the back you can see two of the trucks there (those are tow trucks used for semi trucks, made by peterbuilt) and they are puching, then behind those off picture were 4 more trucks with chains for turning and hills, it was quite the ordeal... the load wheelies there, they also have a engine attached. for acceleration and braking
I usually carry about fourteen concrete blocks and roughly two cans of coffee grounds for hard times like these. I have tow hooks and special coffee mugs if you are interested. Don't forget that I also have mud terrain tires for low traction times like these. I also carry a full line of cell phones for times like these when you are stuck. Let me know if interested. I also sell wicker baskets. Don't forget that i have backup windshield wiper reservoirs for hard times like these.
hey boss is anyway that i can learn how to know the roads, for example wherever u go in USA and not to be lost ..what are the mayor importants hyways over there? thanks
GPS. Jesus, we're getting spoiled. When I drove, I used what we used to call "maps." These were large pieces of paper printed with lines meant to represent roads. With such an item and a small bit of skill, one can navigate quite successfully. ;)
You get a big thumbs up for that my friend. I started driving in 1997 and I can't belive how much things have changed in that short amount of time. Be good!
Great! I personally like the Dave Dudley version better. Other great songs: "I'm a Truck" "Diesel Smoke and Dangerous Curves", "Wolf Creek Pass", "Nitro Express", "White Line Fever", and the best title ever--"I've Got a Beaver on My Lap and a Bear on My Tail". I grew up with these--thanks for posting!
it never grows old i have been driving for 16 years and i love every minute of it.i would not want to do anything but drive a truck.i hate being in a office where you cant go.plus the money is great and the job is perfect nobody over your shoulder watching you work.
This goes back to when I learned to drive. Now days with the "paperless logs", there's no hard running.

This isn't a Red Sovine song.
My company uses this song as background music for a training video...of course, they cut out the references to the three federal offenses (amphetamine use, overweight, logbook violation) that are in it.
jmowreader 2 years ago
ok that helped everyone out alot nice comment? prick.
i69edurmum 2 years ago
Obviously you're not a trucker.
I guarantee you'll see this song differently.
jmowreader 2 years ago
your comment was shit im saying it helped no one you idiot nobody cares what theme tune you use you dumbass.
i69edurmum 2 years ago
Are you a trucker, if so, how many miles, how many years, and what about your driving record? Just curious.
Thank you.
TheMackinacTroll 2 years ago
I'm a trucker. About a year out, good record, about 110,000 miles.
jmowreader 2 years ago 2
Ten years, 1,250,000 something miles. I have since decided to come home and use my Naval training to keep me home.Working on diesels for the school district watching my children grow up. I miss it, but my kids are more important. I shall return one day, hopefully with anoth W-900L and a flatbed again!!!!

Volvos really are great trucks...especially the ones with the 600hp engine that will pull a beer load through the Alleghanies without dropping below 65mph.

Don't you think that sounds TOO similar to this Sovine song?
ChomuSclavus 2 years ago
This tune sounds similar to another tune that mentions "Looziana" and "Pennsylvania" in it. What's that other tune called?

Wow, this is the first time I've heard this by Red Sovine! I must've been living under a rock or something XD
RTPye117 3 years ago
What were Red Sovine's plans if he had lived beyond 1980?
ChomuSclavus 3 years ago
He probably would have kept recording. He might even be performing in Branson now.

1:19.. whoa, thats a big load for a little truck
ZachPSU94 3 years ago
i actually got to see this being moved from Loydminster Alberta to Ft Mcmurray in northern alberta, the truck at the front does nothing except steer the load around, at the back you can see two of the trucks there (those are tow trucks used for semi trucks, made by peterbuilt) and they are puching, then behind those off picture were 4 more trucks with chains for turning and hills, it was quite the ordeal... the load wheelies there, they also have a engine attached. for acceleration and braking

Don't forget that i have backup windshield wiper reservoirs for hard times like these.

hey boss is anyway that i can learn how to know the roads, for example wherever u go in USA and not to be lost ..what are the mayor importants hyways over there? thanks
geronimo913 3 years ago
its called a GPS. sure shot way not to get lost LOL
cbtalker205 3 years ago
