Its beautiful, but Mahalia Jackson was said to sing only spirituals, Sommertime is not a spiritual, as far as i know. Please correct me if i am wrong.

Towards the end of her life; Mahalia made an album with Duke Ellington. She also appeared at the Newport Jazz Festival.

In a few of the existing early recordings; you can hear the influence of Bessie Smith and "Ragtime (early pre-jazz) music.
