  • Kya baat hai, Mirzaa Sahab! Yeh gaana kahaan se mila aapko? It is gorgeous. Somehow, there is a sadness behind the gaiety in both the song and the actress. The style of singing may also be the reason. And it seems to me that this sadness is almost presaging the unhappy life that the lovely Madhubala lived. Here we see a child of 16, but yet a child who somehow seems world-weary. It's a great clip.

  • What a soothing melody. Thanks sir.

  • I like how in the old days heroins had to move their lips in a unusual way to film a song.

  • In fact the original recording artist is Surendar Kaur of this song.

  • Sorry I omitted to supply the following info:

Madhubala originally appeared in Basant & Kedar Sharma's Neel Kamal under the name of Mumtaz. Perhaps Neel Kamal was her first picture in the adult role. She might have been 16 then; but certainly not when she appeared in Singar!

  • @humnivas

Madhubala was born in 1933.. Neel Kamal was released in 1947, which means Madhubala was 14 at that time. Singaar was released in 1949, hence she was 16...

  • A wonderful song by Surinder Kaur to the accompaniment of captivating music. I have seen her old movies e.g. Basant, Neel Kamal etc.; but had never heard of Singar. I had never heard this song either. What a pleasant surprise.

I salute you Mirzasahib for puttingH this gem of a song in the public domain.

  • she was so beautiful..........nice song!

  • FANTASTIC. SHE WAS THE VENUS OF INDIAN SILVER SCREEN

MAY HER SOUL REST IN PEACE

  • Doesn't this dance remind you of Mohe Panghatpe Nandlal?

Madhubala and Raj kapoor look so different in Neel Kamal.

    Beautiful upload.

    Thank you Mirzaji.

  • This song is from Movie Singaar (1949). Music was composed by Khurshid Anwar. The film has three lyricist: Shakeel Badayuni, Nakhshab Jarchavi, and D.N. Madhok. Can anyone tell who is the lyricist of this song among these three.

  • @hindigeetmala The lyricist of this song is Nakhshab.

  • waah waah !

  • The graceful Madhubala and the superb singing of Surinder Kaur. Pair made in heaven.

  • It is a pity that no one mentioned Khwaja Khurshid Anwer who created such beautiful songs,

  • Arre waah Mirzaji! Where do you get these songs? They are sooooo beautiful. I adore Madhubala

  • is she - madhubala - singing this song herself? also, waht was her real name?

  • wow!!! It was her really voice??? A beautiful woman and a good singer too!!!

  • AWESOME SONG

  • Very good audio quality. No more comments needed for Madhubala but Surunder did a great job.

  • Great song in exceptional good audio quality. The koyal of Punjab "Surinder Kaur" ji has such a powerful yet charming voice. Wah wah wah..

    Thanks for sharing.

  • There are those rare occassions when even God creates someone like her and says out loud "Oh my God, how did I create something so perfect". She is beauty personified and even the very sad fact that she died young made her evergreen in all of our memories. Madhubala, she who never became old.

  • What a beautiful , 'divine' comment by shaonghosh1---a tribute to this great and natural BEAUTY -----MADHUBALA. This is youthful MADHUBALA at age 16 --she was a star at age 16 or even earlier. And indeed it looks like that MADHUBALA never got old in our memories ----when she left this world , she was still young 36 Ma GOD bless her for all the joy she brought to millions of people while she was alive -----and still her memory brings joy to millions of people, 40 years after her death.

  • tons of thanks for this upload, it is superbly beautiful.

  • Wah, Mirzaji. anmol

  • uff so young and so beautiful;

  • Makes me wish I was born 50-55 years earlier ....in the same neighbourhood as this wonderful woman.......Beauty epitomized......

  • she looks younger than 16. R u sure she was 16 here,not 14 ??

  • I suppose the film is NAMOONA.

  • Mirzaji, dhanyavaad. This is truly lovely and rare, both Madhubala at 16 and the superb singing of Surinder Kaur.

  • OH! WOW ! GREAT GREAT Simply SUPERB! thank you very much for this,Imirza!

  • Thanks for the correction--yes it is Surinder Kaur!!! I am Kalim Chishtie from Karachi.

  • Hoori indeed. What is worship? Praise and pray and pleasing God. Praise be to God who created such perfection.

  • Wah, Mirzaji. Thank you for digging out this precious jewel.

  • What a nice song--Rajkumari's voice and Khurshid Anwar's fabulous music!!!!Thanks.I am Kalim Chishtie from Karachi.

  • Kalim Bhai the singer is Surinder kaur not Rajkuamri.

  • It is often stated that she had to act in movies to keep her family fed and to keep her father's affection. This is an age when most teenagers are allowed to be carefree and quite selfish. Madhubala had to behave much more responsibly at a very young age.

  • Madhubala was cute!
