He definitely was influenced by John Carpenters scores. Go back and listen to Assault on Precinct 13, Halloween and Escape From NY. then listen to a lot of NIN and the Social Network. Very similar stuff.
He should be wearing a white lab-coat and have a hunchback assistant. Looks like the same gear used to give life to Frankenstein. Fucking MAD scientist of sound! I'd hate to see that electric bill.
@SuperRedeyedtreefrog yeah, but most nin fans are dumb and obnoxious. You shouldn't be expected to like people just because they like your music. If I was famous, Id be dissapointed to have fans like trents.
I come back to this music as one who goes back into a museum, my personal museum, of a time when I was sick with sadness. I just realized ,once again, that there is still too much to remove for though I feel disgusted and scared when I listen to his music; there is something yet that beckons me to those emotional places. This music was made not only to entertain you but to kick you in the face. I will know I am OK when I stop listening to him.....Sad, sickening music. It was useful, though.
one of a few movies where the score doesn't necessarily make the movie watchable, or make the movie, period, but it definitely does enhance it and give it something definitely required for this to have been the movie it was made into.
I want to rub Trent's head--that short buzz-cut haircut is SO tempting. (why yes, I do rub the heads of my friends whose hair is cut short like that.) XD
Aging, heavier, Trent morphs into the latter half of a creative life...its fucking killing me watching other people fulfill their potential as I drowned in Father Knows Best responsibilities...
i love how Trent has grown into his age, yet he is still Trent - minus the drugs and smashing insruments, but still with the torn jeans and laid back demeanor. The music industry does NOT deserve him.
No but we are blessed that he is focused enough to share his exceptional musical talent w/the people who know what good music is. He has ruled, the past 20yrs. Love those concerts videos, and am not usually a "video person". He took the tackiness out of videos.Just the way I use to listen to old British music, now, I listen to NIN and am grateful he found peace. He gave so much to the world and music students will study him 1 day as a composer. He left quite the musical legacy.
@Zorsha Despite having never been much of NIN afficianado, I do have to agree with your assessment 100%. Reznor's a great musician and a great technician. Reznor's humbled response to Johnny Cash's cover of "Hurt" speaks volumes about him.
BTW, didn't Christian Bale's character in "The Machinist" have Reznor-induced name? Trevor Reznik? Nah, I'm imagining crap again. ;-]
The "bee-hive sound" will come in handy when Trent & Atticus score "The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest"!!!!
Can't wait for their Dragon Tattoo score! Judging from what I've heared so far, it's going to be amazing!! Even better than the score for "The Social Network"!!
@matbell Your evidence stretches only as for as you want it to. Please consider more evidence and FACT. Give more in a huge statement like that then how you think you can see a symbol that hasn't even been proven. Trent is a good man and a talented musician.
bof.

I really hope Fincher, Trent, and Atticus return for the rest of the Millennium series!

Trent Reznor can simply walk into Mordor (and walk out as well).
Trent Reznor is not satanist, the devil himself worships (and is sexually attracted to) Trent Reznor.
If you found the most obscure and weird musical instrument, chances that Trent knows how to play it.
When Trent writes music, he angrily stares at the sheet while notes arrange themselves correctly in the fear of being smashed and abused.
Synthesizers are scared to have wrong timbres and sounds in fear of being smashed by TR.
