It is really hard to tell with such poor sound quality. Some of deeper-toned snares sound better with a bad mic, but if you are going to do a comparison, level the field a bit better and use better mics.
#1 and #5 sounds great.. but any drum with the right heads and the right tuning can sound good imo, i had an old pearl 14x5 from the late 60's/early 70's in brass.. oh do i miss that one ;)
it would appear that the more mindless among us are unhappy with the sound of your Bass Drum? i like a damp thud as much as the next man, but it's all about the mood. perhaps you should all fuck off, detune yr BD and learn to play the resonant way.
if you produced the clips with proper mics they might shut up moaning - it's hard for idiots to listen without aides.
hit those drums!.... I don't mind grooving but thats just tapping, drop the hammer on those things and lets hear what they are made of. You are missing half of the drums character hitting them so soft.
My favorite was the Ludwig...then the Rogers a close second...... All you "worlds greatest drummers out there with the ass comments" why cant you just accept this vid for what it is...however...yes the drums could use a good tuning for me...but maybe this drummer likes his sound...to each his own....
i actually prefer the ludwig, then the rogers, then the slingerland. Didn't like the asama or the yamaha... awesome drumming by the way. I am now really annoyed that I sold my kit a few years ago.
My preference would be the slingerland and the rogers but probably best to hear it in person. In this video the depth of each drum dictates a different sound. The tone is affected by the snare wires and the tension of the heads.
yeah do fairly well, but most of drums of the drums i've bought have been suprisingly cheap ! pays to browse around i've found, there is some good stuff to be found !
bad sound quality, poor drummer. why the hell you have such sweet collection if you can't play shit ?

Great beats man. Unique.
I love it.
Some people just do not appreciate uniqueness.

I'm really sad - I expected to like the Ludwig a lot, but it was disappointing. Hopefully the acrolites don't sound like that.
mnc74 2 years ago
acrolite would be totally different, they are a metal snare..

I like a loud thud, not somthing that resonates, i hate that. But its your choice...
What heads are you using on your bass drum and snares?
FinlayO 2 years ago
all drums resonate...if you don't like it, go get yourself some moon gel.
Sabiano 2 years ago
it's all about the heads and proper tuning. fuck moon gel!

I think the most 'usable' snare would be the Rogers; but I personally like the ring on the Ludwig. Great drumming btw...
