I think these images have a good message. Words can hurt, especially when you allow them to. They aren’t akin to physical abuse, but I think all of us can be a little kinder about the words we use. Espically with people that we consider to be our friends and loved ones.
I think if verbal and physical abuse were treated equally, that "40%" statistic would probably go up to something like 90%. From what I've witnessed in my life, women are usually WAY more verbally abusive towards men than the other way around. With that said, I really really do wish society functioned with more gender equality.

If anything, I'd expect more women to verbally abuse men. They're actually at an advantage since men are restricted by laws not to physically touch women. The reason why you don't find many cases against men is because men don't report it.

Neither male rape/abuse/assault by women is view in our society as an atrocity as much as the opposite. while i agree there are by no means equal, i personally would prefer to get killed with reletive speed than to me so depressed that i killed my self. surely it changes depending on where upon the spectrum you look. at the lower end phsysical abususe is obviously more destructive but as you go up they equal out more and more. now obviously you can become truamatized by physical violence as well but at the top of the spectrum theyre pretty damn equivical. just imo.

Words hurt? After years of being on the internet, words don't hurt me at all, really, people need to grow thicker skin. I must also note physical abuse can cause death, unavoidable pain (verbal abuse only causes possible pain, and if your like me, it won't cause a drop of pain), and possible physical scarring depending on the actions, while verbal abuse's emotional scarring entirely depends upon the person.

I'm male. And I think words hurt similar to physical abuse. I know this sounds so pussy-ish, but I've been hurt more by words then I have by physical abuse. That might be because I'm well built and don't really take much damage... But thus far, I've heard awful things said to people and I've heard people get bullied by words on such a regular basis, and I know how it feels to be grinded down inside, bruises and cuts heal... Words stick in your head and float around.

Of course, physicall abuse hurts more than verbal abuse.
But it doesn't mean that verbal abuse is "better" and I think there are male victims of verbal abuse, too. Humans are more sensible (at leat me) than most people think and when you have a look at some bullying victims (verbally bullying) you realise that it can creat neurosis.
In fact the problem is that there are still some countries like jemen where it is odinary to abuse women. This picture of patriarchy is generalized.
