he's using a program called Final Scratch, all his music is on the laptop in wav or mp3 format, the vinyl on the turntables is encoded, which means he can play any track and treat it as if it were the original record.
Essential for turntablists cause it saves you a fortune on records
I hear you if your from the old school brotha. But its the future, and it still takes advantage of the vinyl. How do you think the world would be if everyone who owned a pager said "No Cell Phones" when they came out? You have to be open to the new ways of doing things...stop bein a bitch
sorry, he could play these tracks for just about any crowd and because of his style he could rock the crowd...I have seen him play hits and he does the same things
Of cousre he was playing the legendary jams but I wasent to impress by. Maybe I shot up my expectations expecting some crazy DMC style battle but I understand, he wasen't.
rockinda2techs, you're just ANOTHER one of these dumb ass kids here on YouTube who's LACK of historical perspective on hip hop's STORIED turntablist, is about the size of his brain..
He's in the DMC Hall Of Fame dumb ass!
I guess you think he should get up on stage & do a set where he sees how many times he can flick a fader & make the music sound like a car wreck, rather than TRULY rock a crowd, as your generation has degenerated the art form into huh?
Thank God for real DJs like Jazzy Jeff. Damn, youtube full of phony, wack ass SUCKA DJs. Thanks Jeff! All u wannabe djs, pppplllleeeeaaaaassssseeeee learn to dj b4 u post ur videos. save yourself the embarassment
Thats a poor comment man! thank god for reel DJ's....ehh???
Yes we all know that Jazz is good... he was know for the transform scratch but he heard Dj Aladin I think? do it first...he just added his style to it and he sort of got the credit for it......Ca$h heard Jazz do it and then put his own style to it,with out all these wanna be DJ's as you like to put it this art form would of never progressed you fool.lol!
I quite like watching WANNABE DJ'S as you can still learn something new from them
How good do you think Jazz was when he took Dj Spinbads transform scratch and put his own style to it.
It wasnt till Ca$h went back to Jazzy's house he saw a pair of 1200's for the first time then had a go on them and thats when Jazz showed him the transform and then he put his syle to it.
Without wannabe DJ's this artform would of never progressed and I still learn things from other Dj's no matter how good they are
Wow, first, Jazz saw Aladin, now u say it was Spinbad. Thank God for wiki, right? So if I picked up a guitar without knowing what the hell I was doing and posted a vid, you'd learn from that too? Everybody's wack when they start but post a vid when u have SOMETHING to show. Too many vids of so called experts on here that have no clue. By the way, how much have u learned from those vids here of cats spinnin' on turntables?? Guess u've learned a lot from those vids too huh? moron!
Jeff isnt your average DJ. The kid is sharp, smooth AND can rock a club joint. People slept on Jeff. That's the fault of Will Smith. he never gave Jeff props after he went Hollywood.
are you kidding me? Jeff's gotten props in EVERY Will Smith album.
they even did one of those session joints in Willenium AND he produced the first track on Lost and Found. Will gave Jazz mad props the whole way through
3:01 what a sample !! lolol damn mad sugarhill gang stuff in there !! i remember back in will smith's show when he was dancin funny as fuk with carlton to that tune :D
Yeah, many guys are on the Rane mixers, but he really seems to love the 909. I like this tone generator effect that it has, and the cool looking LED screen. Though I hear that when it breaks its a bitch to fix.
The TTM-56 is a pretty standard Scratch Mixer with most advanced fader options, 3 band EQ, etc. The TTM-57 is the 56's big brother with a built in ScratchLIVE USB interface video capability, and a whole host of control buttons and options that make using SSL easier and more intuitive. The only thing that is missing is an onboard keyboard, hehe. if you spin with a laptop look into the 57. If you stick to records, the 56 may be best.
jay, instrumental mixes and juggles between instrumental sections or "breaks" are a staple of Hip-Hop DJ's, and were very popular during the earlier part of Hip-Hop's history (80's mostly).
That type of mixing is very well suited for breakdancing. What you see here is probably one of the best examples of a good DJ rockin' killer "breaks".
A friend was telling me that during a local Jazzy Jeff performance people kept coming up asking for the "old guy" to hop off the decks, so that the resident DJ could get on with the new hip-hop shit... LOL...
All the songs are on a playlist and you just look up the songs or MP3's your gonna play and rock it's kinda confusing but for some deejay's you can catch on quick it's dope to work with.
I was a jazzy jeff since the days when he played for an hour on a an AM radio station after school in Philly.Always had a groundlevel personality too.The best Dj onthe planet!!!!!!
