that's a good question. i travel around where i live to find what's out and about. however, a very successful set up is to use a large white sheet and a mercury vapor light; that will pretty much attract anything in your area.
You should put in a small container when they're small because they like to crawl a lot, if you put them in a big container they'll crawl away from their food.
