I honestly dont understand this, i know they mean well and think they are helping but they arent. Im all for conservation, preserving habitats etc but this is stupid, untill we come up with a truely sustainble source of energy that doesnt cost billions of pounds to actually put into action we have to use fossil fuels. We can use coal etc but while we use it we research alternative energy sources so when fossil fuels run out we can use those alternative energy sources, thats just the way it is

If you "decommission the power station now" without FIRST having something to take it's place, there's a good chance you will lose enough generation capacity in the area to cause electric supply shortages.
Other fuel-generation power stations (coal or otherwise) would have to run at a higher output to compensate, therefore increasing the pollution output from them.
But I bet they didn't think of that, did they?
That tells me they just aren't as knowledgeable as they think they are.

dont get me wrong i hate being reliant on fossil fuels but the way you protested it was not the way it should have been protested. just think of how much carbon YOU caused to enter the atmosphere by cutting that fence you have the mining equipment, coal and iron blast furnaces to make the steel, the packaging, the transporting it to stores, the stores using electricity to stay open, and finally the truck to transport the new fence back tothe work site.
