This video really made me feel good. I would love if the day came when the relationship between citizens and law enforcement would be repairable such as in this video. I was convicted of a marijuana charge(felony) a few years ago, and I'd be proud to call any of those officers in this video "brother". Keep up the great work LEAP!
great words. seeing law enforcement and clergy speak out and put their reputations on the line for something they believe in and thats right is just awsome. these arent just blind ramblings of what the govenrment thinks a stoner is. these are tru words from people who have experienced how wrong prohibition is and want to make a change. i fully agree with and support this video.
These gentlemen are speaking the truth on many levels. Much of this "drug war" is about personalities and not about policies. The "war on drugs" is a war on poor people, not just black people.
Weed doesn't kill people, neither do people on weed. HELLOW!
Good idea guys! I've always questioned the religious groups who cite the "moral high ground" in trumpeting the War on Drugs. I've always thought, "well if locking up your fellow human beings for harming no one but themselves really moral? do we lock up people for eating unhealthily or using cancer sticks?" the moral high ground is what these pastors are doing: helping the addicts get off drugs through community and support and fighting to keep them out of jail and away from the REAL criminals.
and we need hemp oil for cancer treatment, we need to deregulate healthcare and break up big pharma/lobby this is a crying shame, i'm disgusted with the war on the poor, unethical
We need more regulation of health care, not less. Our insurance and health-care industries are the least regulated in the industrialized world, and also the most expensive, and provide the least coverage to the least number of people. That's pretty strong indication that the solution is not less regulation. Profit motive as an incentive is fine, but regulation is needed to prevent abuse.
if you harm yourself or someone else, you have to pay for your own health care and the person who you harmed. if you live an unhealthy lifestyle and end up having to go to the hospital because of your poor self inflicted health, then you have to pay for it yourself.
i'm tired of illegal search and seizure, i'm tired of being taxed for non violent offenders i only support legalizing pot/for jobs and profits for AMERICANS not GANGS
Bravo LEAP! Its about time , we have to stop these de-humanizing laws from the continuing to wreck Americas foundation...THE FAMILY ! This to me seems to be a communist/facisit law create with the intent to destroy America. Why would we continue to support our own destruction, WHY?
Great video. It is about time we started conversations in our communities about the harm caused by prohibition. It is too costly in human and financial terms and didn't work. It didn't work in the 1920's and it isn't working now.
I don't want the tax money re-directed into social programs. If we just stop taxing people to pay for this ridiculous anti-drug "war", and that money stays in the community to be spent or invested freely, there will be a huge improvement in people's lives
shDwfthSUN your absolutely right, it don't matter who is bringing the message as long as the message gets brought. LEAP is motivating factor bringing legitimacy into the equation of ending drug prohibition because of their extensive front line experiences in that war. Having the Clergy on side means that they can reach out to their congregation. The more this message becomes mainstream the faster the insanity ends.
instead of funding marijuana prohibition, and jamming court ordered treatment facilities with marijuana offenders, and spending millions on testing urine for THC, ...
-fund treatment for HARD drugs, alcohol, and tobacco addiction.
-fund schools, and increase after-school programs and extracurricular activities.
-fund incentives for kids to stay off ALL substances (college and vocational school scholarships).
thank you LEAP for posting this intelligent conversation.
I agree with everything you say except for "ALL substances", hard drugs should be a definite "No-no" but marijuana isn't harmful and shouldn't be taken into account, but I also believe it should be kept away from schools like alcohol.
i just think there are better uses for the billions of dollars wasted on marijuana prohibition.
i guess if one were to consider all the LEGAL pharmaceuticals that are being pumped into school children these days, the kids might be better off if cannabis was available in lieu of ritalin, etc.
cannabis should be taken off of schedule one, and research allowed to study any ill effects that MIGHT manifest in a developing adolescent mind and body.
This is amazing, and it is exactly the kind of conversation we should be having on what is the best solution to our drug-related problems, which produces the greatest good for the most people.
Ultimately, I do not care what society, religion, or ideology has to say about that as long as it serves THAT end.
The fact that there is a growing coalition between health experts, law enforcement, and clergy helps to validate the movement and my support for drug legalization.
@TheR33l i agree, but if clergy is an ally then i welcome their support. although i don't support the idea that clergy should be fixing the problem... it just promotes indoctrination without properly curing drug addiction IMO.

Ron Paul debates Stephen Baldwin on Legalizing Marijuana
There are a lot of people out there that believe that Marijuana should be legal and it sure isn't Obama.
Educate yourself about the US Constitution.
The 10th amendment states that the FED does not have the authority to overstep the States rights.

fixing health care is very simple:
if you harm yourself or someone else, you have to pay for your own health care and the person who you harmed. if you live an unhealthy lifestyle and end up having to go to the hospital because of your poor self inflicted health, then you have to pay for it yourself.
