The most interesting oath of office was in 1961 when the late John F. Kennedy took it. Sadly,the man did not complete his term because some asshole shot him dead.

I miss President Bush. While disagree with him on many domestic issues, his foreign policies protected us from another 9/11 attack. The current bozo for a commander in chief cant even win a staring contest with his general (Stanly Mccrystal).

what happened:

Obama jumped the gun

Roberts got flustered and screwed up the second sentence

Obama stopped when he realised something was wrong, appearing to give Roberts an opportunity to correct the line

Roberts didn't say anything

then they both talked at the same time

Roberts saying the line correctly this time, while Obama repeated what Roberts said the first (incorrect) time

all in all i'm sure both men will be quite peeved about it

They BOTH screwed up:

Obama didn't wait for Roberts to finish the first part. Roberts was supposed to say, "I, Barack Hussein Obama, do solemnly swear ..." but Obama cut him off before he could say "do solemnly swear" and instead Obama started repeating prematurely the line, "I, Barack ..."

Roberts said, "that I will execute the office of president to the United States faithfully..." when he SHOULD have said, "that I will execute faithfully the office of president to the United States..."

Stoops, you're the only one around here who has it right. BOTH men messed up a little, but it doesn't matter. The oath is just for show. Barack Obama became president as soon as the clock struck noon. It's in the constitution. Neither man seemed too bothered by the slip-ups, so we shouldn't be either.

the Chief Justice flubbed up when administering the oath - not Obama. Roberts didn't read it correctly. It's understandable since he's a GW appointee.

the president only had so much power, you realize that right? there is a democratically run congress to hold votes. As well, time will repair his standing as presidents in the US, look at any of the political insiders who compare him to harry truman who led us thru korea, the end of WWII, cold war, etc.
