  • this is gymnopedies no.1, not no.2 >:| ...

  • just realised that this is actually a waltz o.O

  • I adore this arrangement of this piece- who is performing it?

  • like this very much! thx.

  • What version is this? Ill give you 1 million dollars if you know

  • @BlGDlCKxDUBSTEP show me the money and i will tell you who did this ;)

  • @wupohan noo dont do that, then it will become mainstream, and hipsters will love it before it was made, and then piano music will become more popular then dubstep, and then hipsters who hate dupstep will love dupstep and the ones that love dubstep will say that it became too mainstream, and they will name piano music as their genre, and then piano music will become mainstream....mother of god. Y U NO TAKE MEDICINE?

  • @urkomplex Lol dude, I love all kinds of music and I dont share music that I discover and other people discover because they are special. Music like this should remain secret and only be shared to the people who really love this kind of music

  • è carino il vedeo ma anke la musica !!! xD

  • Everything should have a download link.

  • The song for me interprets a lonliness...but a good one. Lonely, but in deep thought,so in the long run not too bad to be lonely i guess lol

  • For the original piano version, this would be Satie's Gymnopédies 1 .

HOWEVER this actually is Debussy's orchestration, which is marked as No. 2.

    Debussy's No.1 = Satie's No.3

    Debussy's No.2 = Satie's No.1

  • I feel compelled to be that guy who mentions that this is actually gymnopedia 1 and to throw in an annoying chuck norris joke. I hate that guy. have a good day.

  • Wrong title .. for Heaven's sake ..

But I also had a major lable recording of many of his works, including Parade, but especially the Gymnpedies were in the wrong order and the titles mixed up. (33rpm)

  • is that a nipple i see in on the right planet at about 4 o'clock??

  • i always feel sad hearing this D:

  • Es hermosoooo *0* !!!

  • Even more beautiful than the first one. i can imagine an autumn afternoon in an orange forest when I listen to this song.

  • this is just the orchestral version.. my orchestra played this XD

  • Magnificent arrangement. :-)

  • this is the ocestral version of number 1 not number 2

  • It's impossible to be upset listening to this....

  • Is it me, or are the planets and asteroids in the picture slowly getting closer?

  • This song makes me think of melancholy purple and blue pastel colors when I listen to the piano version. As mentioned, this one is different. It makes me think of stars. Either way, this song is so pretty.

  • @GazdeSnake Erik Satie comoposed this song, not Debussy. It was originally written for piano :]

  • VERDADERAMENTE INCREIBLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • <3 Bravo! Stunning! Brilliant version of # 1, No 2. Thank you so much for posting & sharing this brilliant music video*^o^* Tres bien☆ <3

  • @awakeandforever

whered u get this?? omg i love this version so much

  • Not a lot of people know this but Satie was quite a wealthy man. He was paid a bonus everytime somebody remarked on what number this was. Or that there was something wrong with the numbering of his pieces. He was also know to have a great sense of humor and was great friends with Debussy. It is said that you could often see them together in a bar usually in high spirits over something.

  • Wow What a great version of this!!

  • EXCELLENT...VERSSION.

    CONGRATULLATIONS...FROM CHILE.

  • Excellent pic with the music, works well together.

  • 3 people are deaf

  • @EnragedMime189 4 To be exact.

  • This one comes off as much more vast and open than the original with the piano

  • the harp makes you feel like your floating :) like satie intended

  • does anyone know who arranged this?

  • I love playing this piece of Music on my Korg piano. It is in the Kenneth Baker Piano book 5. Absolutely Beautiful piece.

  • this is like a briht star i on a vary dark nniht

  • i belive this is no 1 not two oh well its beautifull was my lulaby when i was younger

  • i just melted into the seat .... how beautiful

  • Wonderful music with a wonderful background !

I think that all of us can dream by listening and watching this <3

  • This is Gymnopédies No.1

    However,i love this version.

  • what wouldn't i give to float on an Apollo vessel looking out to space with this playing ...

  • what a dream :]

  • Love this song :)

  • This is Gymnopedie 1

  • O this is so beautiful, gives me the shivers...

  • That is a sic picture ;)

  • i would like 2 say tat i sort of like the first one...

  • this gives the piece character that the piano misses and while it cannot capture the raw emotional state of the piano peice the transitions between instruments is a nice touch.. but to discredit it on the grounds that it is not the original is typical of the classicist who cannot think outside the box and believes that original arrangments and compositions need not to be altered...being a Jazz musician I do not think that way..

  • @djinnification Usually i would agree with you, but the beauty of this piece sprang from its simplicity and dare i say, the loneliness that only one piano can emulate,

  • To the IrishDutchman so concerned with subjecting music. It's music..It's art. That's like saying all paintings can only be drawn in a particular way.

  • This is good. I like both versions, and both have merits that the other doesn't. Plus, I love the oboe.

  • Sorry I agree. Piano much better. It's simple and has to be kept that way.

  • The same one that Wrote Gymnopedie no. 1 and 3

  • That's just plain wrong, Satie wrote this piece for piano only. Get your facts straight.

  • well, he wrote the piano peice first, and made this version last (despite it being no. 2)

  • haha couldn't agree more. and i swear this is gymnopedie no.1 not 2?

  • @IrishDutchman

Did you just call Debussy a plonker? It's certainly your right not to like it, but a plonker? Just, no.

  • @IrishDutchman

don't need that vocabulary here man, we're al civilized adults that can enjoy a masterful piece like this while conversing the pros and cons

besides i think this gymnopedies 2 is also composed by Satie

i like shit one better with all the arrangements

    cheers from Mexico

  • amaizing and richfull

  • Sublime !

    A dream !

    Thanks !XD

  • Richly, startlingly beautiful, with the sudden flow of the brass instruments. A full and rich experience to the senses. Such a different feel from the piano version which is quiet and contemplative, musing............

  • thank you so much for sharing this stuff..so different i feel like i m in a slow motion state.brilliant

  • Wow, so different from the original. The piano version is like watching raindrops on the windowpane, missing the past. This one is like watching the stars and thinking about the future.

  • @MaxChaplin i get the same feeling of the raindrops on a windowpain

  • beautiful planets/stars and moons

  • yep , gymnopedie 1, for sure..........

  • hey great picture

can you tell me wher it's from?

  • awesome pic and music!!!

  • hi..one of my all time fav pieces of music, theres a great version done by gary numan in 1980, should be avalible on you tube.

  • Hi,

Can you please correct the title of this video. This is my favorite version of this piece so far, but I believe it's Gymnopedies 1 and not 2.

    Thanks.

  • I do believe gymnopedie no 1 is the piano piece and gymnopedie no 2 is the orchestral version

  • Actually, Satie wrote them all for piano, but there have been many orchestral arrangements. Though they do sound similar because of the repeated theme, I believe this user just mislabeled his/her video.

  • i've seen in many places where i looked up gymnopedie that it was labeled Gymnopedie 1, 2, or 3.

  • wat can you say its such a beautiful song and the space just does it

  • This is one of my favorite pieces that I listen to in a dimly lighted room with a slight breeze coming in while I sit with a glass of wine and my eyes closed listening to every note. "Beautiful Composition"

  • can any one tell me if this song is the same as Gymnopedies 1?

  • this one is gymnopedies 1, i think he got the titles wrong

  • That's right, but when Claude-Achille Debussy Orchestrated it, he renumbered it as the third Gymnopedaeia

  • Comment removed

  • @franciscoproductions When Debussy orchestrated the first and third Gymnopedies, he set the third one as the first movement and the first Gymnopedie as the second movement. At first, I thought this was a mistake too. That was until I looked at Debussy's score.

  • @franciscoproductions yes you are right

  • mmm, i just want to waltz... :)

  • I don't know which version of this song I like the most.

  • This is Gymnopedie 1 by Eric Satie

  • Wolfgang Vock

  • gymnopedies = genius

  • This song relaxes me so much. I think it's a beautiful composition..kinda like a dream..

  • 有海岸黃昏 微風吹拂 坐在室外的躺椅上的感覺....滿舒服的...

  • I don't see why what you said was getting thumbs down, it seemed quite nice.

  • cause its in squares

  • fascinating

  • "the loneliness birds were back again" the power of one

  • not only is this song great, but so is that picture. damn! lol 5 stars.

  • I don't think God was lonely. I think he was peaceful but also excited about creating us :)

  • wait, i thought this was #1?

  • It is, you're right. This is Gymnopedie #1 composed by Satie when played on piano.

But do you want to know what's weird? This becomes Gymnopedie #2 arranged by Debussy when played in an orchestra. Satie's Gymnopedie #3 on piano then becomes Debussy's Gymnopedie #1 in the orchestra. Kinda peculiar, isn't it?

  • They were very good friends, Satié, Debussy and the painter Monét.

  • this is very sadness make me feel into another world...just one word for this "lonely"..maybe God feel lonely like this..

  • I think God isnt lonely, because God is in imagenation land with Luke Skywalker, Jesus, Santa Claus and all the other figures.

  • Correct.

  • How can God feel lonely with people praying to him/her all the time? :3

  • i mean before man n angel create,stupid...

  • How can I be stupid for saying that? Your comment never implied that you were talking about a specific period of time. :/

  • Who plays this version of Gymnopédies?

  • It's like I've seen every moment of my life when I hear this melody. It's very inspiring:)

  • This world is devided in emotions.... the good and the bad but there is some things that cant compare the sadness or happyness like this music

  • Sadness is sometimes beautiful itself...

  • so beautiful :) but it sounds so sad :S or am I just imagining`?

  • This is so beautiful...was reading about one of Janet Jackson's songs from 2001 and it sounds similar to this.

  • yeah this is number one.

  • where can I download it from?

  • download the youtube to mp3 converter from dvd videosoft

its free and it works like a charm

  • isn't this gymnopedies 1?

  • Yeah that's what I thought.

  • well, it´s funny that you get thumbs down...

    because it is gymnopedies 1!

  • if you stare at it for a long time you feel like you float out of reality

  • love this; i could listen to it all day...its so beautiful......

  • yep

  • this song makes me feel like fall asleep and enter a new place magnifique

  • Piękna muzyka!

  • Oh my gosh I heard this peice first by Gary Newman I was totally in love with it. I was about 17 then im over 45 now i still adore it.

  • wat can u say it such beautiful song and the space just dose it well done

  • ;_; it makes me want to melt into nothingness and just float away on a little breeze and play with the clouds...forever.

  • NICE!!!...lol

  • i've never been speechless be4. it's magnifique

  • me 2 there is no word that can describe music so beautiful accept heeeeaaaaaaaven

  • beautiful, amazing!!

  • I finally found out who wrote this song...used but never credited, poor guy

  • That image of space just...drew me in. I fee like I'm having a conversation with the universe, just listening to that music.

    Beautiful

  • wow so beautiful

  • it is such a beautiful song

  • hah, its the g.1 not the g.2

  • That's what I was thinking.

  • Yes it's the 1

  • i believe debussy orchestrated the 1st gymnopedie second and either the second or the third one first.

so, i dont think the title is wrong.

  • Sublime!!!

  • wow, it´s amazing! Great

  • very beautiful

  • Mathematics is the science of infinity with one ultimate foundation & ultimate meaning.
