  • OH MY GOOOOOOOODDDDDD!!!!!

  • Oh my GGGGGGOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOODDDDDDDD

  • Well said Chris. Shiiiiiiiiiiiiiieeeeeeeeeeeeeeet. Buga Waga dunmbo Upulilala Singo Winggulu PuPi.

  • @Tonybklyn... To show the beauty of the hair of African American women, and even African women whose hair come in various colors, textures, and lengths. To dispel some of the stereotypes and myths regarding black women and their hair, not validate them. He did not show not one female in any industry whose hair is naturally long, or straight...and there are many. He is an embarrassment to African American people everywhere and a clown.

  • @tonybklyn...

Nothing he said gives credibility to his "documentary" when he started out with a question from his daughter asking "why don't I have good hair". Nothing he put in that movie answered that question. The intelligent thing to do would have been to define good hair which is healthy hair...not the length, texture, or color of the hair so matter how you wear it, it is GOOD hair. To be con't...

  • "Somebody has to clean up this room tonight. that guy's really working". So true. Good to see he doesn't take it for granted or let it go to his head.

  • I have a question, ‘how does a black person wearing a weave affect other people’s lives’. If someone prefers their hair to be chemically treated or weaved then that clearly their choice, isn’t it. Chris Rock is a buck teeth jackass.

  • oh FFS, it's YOUR hair, do what you like with it. i know loads of black people with good hair who still wear weaves just 'cos they want another look. maybe chris rock's daughter really has bad hair. it's not a general black thing. some white people have bad hair too. when she grows up, she'll learn to deal with it. so stop sensationalizing "hair". nobody was ever known for their "thick wavy long hair" it's what you do that counts. nuff said

  • Chris rock is full of shit and is a fucking hypocrite. Change starts at home thus stop your WIFE perming her hair and wearing weaves then come preach to me. Black women do not need to 'justify ' their style choices to this fucking ass hole.

  • You can see that dipshit reporter thinks he's joking about real work 'cause he never had to do any in his whole sheltered life.

  • @Dissident101 That 'dipshit reporter' is none other than 'OH MY GOOOOOD' Arnold from Troll 2. He's a legend, so shove it up your arse.

  • oh my gaaaawd!

    you are a legend

  • Great funny guy - so good to see that he's still Chris Rock.

  • I love Chris.

  • Good Hair was a depressingly funny, sad, great movie.

A lot of ppl will just scratch their natural hair and say,

how can this be? Is this an alternate universe?

  • nob!!!!!

  • big shot out to all the hard working people. i give him a lot of credit for appreciating it day in, day out.

  • In the end its a choice as a black womean whether we want our hair natural, straight or curly. As long as there is no shame for the way each and everyone of us was naturally made there shouldn't be a issue. But it is interesting.

  • OMG i know that black ppl dont have long hair

but some do!NAD THAT KINDA STUPID BCUZ HES BLACK AND HES SAYING THAT .MAYBE HE DOESNT KNOW THAT IF A BLACK PERSON PUTS WATER IN THEIR HAIR IT GETS CRAZY AND CURLY!I WOULD KNOW THIS BCUZ I'M BLACK AND I'M FROM CONGO

  • lol all you can see is chris rocks eyes and teeth!

  • Chris Rock for President! Love this guy, Real Talk.

  • hes so fuckin down to earth and jus tells it like it and is damn funny when hes sayin it!!

  • He's interviewing Chris Rock! And then he's going to interview me! OH MY GOOOOOOOOD!!!

  • Honestly, the day the hair of the female effects the sex life of the couple. As in *Dont touch hair, i gotta always be on top*.. That's day i'd break up.

  • cherrypieevilness when i say white i mean dat most of u try to follow da white standard of beauty, dats to do with straight hair and white features nd i'm sorry 2 hear dat u have to live in such a racist country where people are judged based on looks rather dan personality cuz i live in london nd we dnt have dat here cuz dere r a lot of african people here who walk around wid wat u guys call' nappy' hair nd the full african clothes we think its beatiful

  • Its This Simple.

The Day The White People Came To Africa in The 1800's It Was a Rap For Black People.

  • er those two things u mentioned are due to ipeople

  • @MuhammadSmith

How are you stupid? Why don't you educate yourself first and learn that a trade like the transatlantic slave and the millions of people deported couldn't have gone on during centuries with only buying people? Besides, mining blood diamonds, seriously? Those diamonds are cut, sold and used for who? We, African people got sold then colonized for our natural resources: gold, diamond, iron, oil... I bet you're either a good-for-nothing oreo and a trashy non-black ignoramus.

  • how are you doin, first off black women do not get weaves because they want to be white or lack blackness. if the black man made a stance as far as what is and is not acceptable then little bull crap like weaves wont be a big discussion, i have dated women with locks, perms and weaves and it is all about what is in the head and heart for real, too much attention is put toward hair. if only black women would stop HATING black women and start loving then we can come together what ever hair style

  • bottom line...kinky hair is as good as straight hair. after 400 years of being coerced to hide it or burn it, it's going to take some time to learn to love the gift God gave us. hallelujaaaah

  • ive never met a black woman who wants to look like a white woman, but i have met alot of black girls who are DESPERATE to have long hair, their dream is not to be white but to be a chocolate colour girl with long hair.

  • Ive never in my life met a girl or woman of the black race that wanted to be Chocolate color. They always try to be as light as possible. Are you speaking of Black women in America? If so Where are these Women at.

  • ok so your accusing ALL black women in America for wanting to be light, question is HOW MANY DO YOU ACTUALLY MEET THAT MAKE DRASTIC CHANGES TO THEIR APPEARANCE TO LOOK WHITE? compared to white women who lay for HOURS under the sunbed and risk getting skin cancer just so they can get a tan, unbelieveable,

  • like i said ive NEVER met a black woman who wants to be white, they may want to look lighter, but sure dont wanna be white, light brown, caramel is not white

  • The funny thing is that many Black Men think this has nothing to do with them. lol. Black Women are simply trying to please your backward, penis slinging, deadbeat dad, doing nothing to heal your community, no power having, blame the white man for everything, brainwashed, destroying your own community, violent plagued, incarcerated asses. Brothas....take a look at yourselves. And you may begin to see the root of a black woman's self esteem issues. We are responsible. BTW. Im a Black Man.

  • Your comment is soooooooooooooooooooooo wrong I cant even begin to explain the contradictions and pure BS that you just wrote. Black Women try to look good to overshadow OTHER Black women . Women shud know by now that a Man doesnt give "D" how spurced up a woman is and as a matter of fact the less CRAP they have on them the less high maintenance they will be thus we get to keep more $ .....Women who read vogue essence and watch tyra and other black models are influenced to perm their hair

  • u are a black man who says that black men may be angry if a black woman has a degree or more likely to take care of her children, say word

  • i am daren. i am a robot. how r u chris. thank you. blah blah blah blah....

  • I read your comment before the video really started up. I was expecting him to act like a robot

He really didn't.. you really just come across as a dick

  • lol yah he does, no one talks like that. ..and if they do they shouldn't be on camera.

  • When Does This Movie Come Out?

  • I like what Chris Rock says when asked if hes exhausted from his work "someone has to clean up this room tonight, that guy is really working"

  • the amount of white women dying skin cancer every year trying to get brown skin is far more of an issue than black girls getting straight hair

  • y u black women so offended he's only telling da truth y'all come on how many u walk around wid ur own nappy hair?.........not many because ur embarrassed and u wanna look like white girls, but let me ask u dis how many white women want 2 look like black girls? not many therefore it tells us something about black women's self esteem issues

  • black women wanna look like white women? hmm, thats a big statement, i dont know that many black girls who want white skin, i think black girls just want long hair, why do white women get tans? they wanna be dark skin huh?

  • research on black girls bleaching their skin to look white.that is pure self-hatred.

  • so how many black women have you met who bleach their skin to look as white as a white girl? please show me,

  • u didnt ask mw but i dont know any personally who bleach their skin, but i do know as black man that black women stand for the white man against the black man and that is the bleaching of the mind,

  • hmm, well who invented perms? black man, who is famous for bleaching their skin till he became a ghost? black man(michael jackson) . sounds to me that ur a black woman hater,so ur words mean nothing to me

  • i am not a black woman hater, i am a black man who loves black women, but i do not like a loud mouth or disrespectful woman who hates black people, how can anybody read what i wrote and think that i am a hater of black women, i love my people but i know we as a people need help

  • a black women invented it and MJ had a disease so he just decided to bleach it because his body was his business

  • Im offended by your statement. Black women getting perms isnt because they wanna look white. The topic on why black women want straight hair like white people goes to far back to explain why. In a way its because when you see a pretty girl on tv her hair is not an afro

  • when did i say black women wanna look like white women? i was asking a question hence th ereason i added a question mark to my statement..

  • Actually. You are missing a huge factor. Black Men. A woman's perception of her own beauty is a reflection of the way the man of her culture percieves her. Even more so. The way a woman sees her own beauty is a reflection of the way the man of her culture SEES HIMSELF. Black women's issues with their hair is a result of pleasing Black Men who do not embrace it. Every woman selects her style to the liking of MEN!!!! If they are "trying to be white"...it due to pleasing a brainwashed Black Man!!!

  • Your statement is ironic considering the vast amounts of plastic surgery, hair bleaching, skin tanning, lipo, lip injections, butt implants that white women do per year. And you think that somehow that represents self esteem. YOu are either a jealous white woman who is seeking to use a black woman as a punching bag or you are a black man who is perhaps angry that our black women are more likely to have a degree, a great job and more likely to take care of her children.

  • how are you, well why do black women feel that a black man is angry that a black woman has a degree or great job. lets understand, the job like school is what you make it, what you do with the education or check is up to the person. No black man is jealous of his woman if she makes more money or has a degree. This is a tactic used to belittle black men while the black woman thinks she is going somewhere.

  • If I were speaking for every black woman I would be so offended. I would walk outside with my natural on right now but everyone will look at me funny. It not a matter of self esteem issues its a matter of how many people will judge you if you dont follow the crowd. We have been pressured for so long to have straight hair I can tell you for a fact if a black girl just has her natural everyone is going to say somthing. My school is 80% black and I cant find one person who wants to look white.

  • you guys are taking this too seriously im black too but hes a comedian on his stand up he makes funn of white pple too

  • i think what chris rock is doing is very helpful rather than ridiculing black women.

  • Let go. The lasting damage of psychological enslavement continues until American Africans break ourselves free of self imposed oppression.

  • Oh no! Black men including Rock would never air their own dirty laundry . So some weak punk-azz black men in order to boost their egos, hide their own failures and feel more accepted, will instead not focus on themselves and examine how they can better themselves and their community but turn the spotlight on black women (their only friends) and hold black women up to be dehumanized and ridiculed. There isn't a cowardly piece of sh*t lower than some black men.

  • Lye is Sodium Hydroxide, "no-lye" relaxers are simply sodium hydroxide derivatives. Both lye and "no-lye" relaxers are dangerous chemicals that can cause serious damage to hair, skin and scalp and should be used with great care.

  • Its funny how it takes a white man married to a black women to be honest with a Chris Rock Robert Ebert Chris is making a one sided comedy or documentary for $ what he does not bring up is the fact that most relaxers do not have lye in it the chemical that burn the can. Also on Jay Leno he says black women wants to be white but then on The View with Whoopi he would not dare say that then he try to say jackson are the first black family r u kinding me people looked up to Cosby family not Jackson

  • qwerty: Chris Rock is first and foremost a comedian..so you have to filter his tv appearances through that. You can't take every comment he says as a deep, introspective revelation. He's a master of satire.

  • comedians are influenced by the truth.. remember that.. comedy/drama is the source of film making

  • Chris Rock is holding up black women as objects to ridicule and to fatten his pockets even more. I also noticed his differences in his statement depending on who he is talking to. Just because Rock is married to a black woman mean he have bw's best interest at heart.

  • when he is with a white audience its bw want to be white when its a black audience its black women need to keep money in community what is it buy weave from black plp or don't buy it at all he is so hypocritical.

  • He is being ironic and showing black women that real hair is better and you should be happy with yourself the way you are. Idiot.

  • who r u calling an idiot. and how is he being ironic when he says black women want to be white do you no what ironic means maybe you are the idiot use words u understand

  • If you knew what ironic means then you know what's said have an opposite meaning alittle education for ur dumb ass so when he is saying bw want to be white u r saying he is saying bw want to be black now why the hell would he say that, thats what ironic means or when he say real hair is better being ironic or sarcastic he is saying weaves r better learn english first go to college eng 101 is what u need before u call somone an idiot

  • He is being ironic, because of the movie, idiot. White people get tanned to look like people f color. They adopt african-american culture like hip-hop,blues,soul. They want their women curvy, full lipped, and strong. But the one thing they can't copy, is black women's hair, and yet, that's exactly what black women hate the most about themselves. Do you not see the irony now, idiot?

  • If you really think Chris Rock is that intelligent and thinks that deeply into the situation you are the Idiot especially if u think w w want to copy bw hair every race wants to copy another and no one wants to be themselves Chris Rock is trying to make $ not education plp or be philisophical he believe this will spark interest and he is right it has thats all he is right about. also black women don't hate themselfs get it right IDIOT

  • It is nice to hear a famous person say that what they do is not as hard as other kinds of work. Some make it sound like there lives are so hard

  • Sensitive people...

  • Why is he dumb? He's actually quite smart. All he does is expose the strange fascination that Black women have to make their hair look more european. At least he dosen't call other Blacks *iggers. You do. Sellout!

  • That comment does not make you sound like a racist.

  • are you serious? chris rock is trying to make the black race look bad? but what about what you just said...talk about double standards

  • yes, other races of women have "greener on the other side of fence" issues with their hair, but ours is backed by a focused historical intent to belittle, defame and shame us about our look. I've seen no other race take the LEVEL of shame we do about our own hair.

  • Well I doubt if the Japanese planted seeds of "self hate" in their women.

  • What qualifies you to say that? Are you an expert on Japanese culture? Do you have a PHD in that field of study?

  • The comment was directed towards qwerty86u, Smarty pants. This is not a documentary about Japanese culture but since you asked, I have the same qualifications that you have which is....

  • Chris is simply doing a documentary on a certain type of hair fascination and one he is very familiar with. It's good not to broaden the subject too much or else the dvd would run for days. To focus on the black womens' hair culture alone will provide a more thorough look at the situation. And this is not exploitation, but rather informing black women (and other curious races) about the things we grow up learning that we supposedly should put in out hair. I personally can't wait to see it.

  • Informing black women of what. That perms with lye burns through a can, that weaves come from India, that black men like white women because of there hair

  • You haven't even seen the documentary. You're only speaking from a short commercial. And by the way, I happen to think that the first two you mentioned are pretty interesting.

  • For your information most perms no longer contain lye look it up

  • Perhaps Rock hits on this as well on his documentary? Why don't you come back when you've seen the entire thing?

  • I am not wasting my money to see this movie. You can support Chris Rock he does not give two s&%T about u or me or black women

  • I wonder if you are black because of course human hair comes from third world countries not just India. Also not only black women get weaves. Also not all weaves is human for ur info. I guess u will be in there taking notes and how will that benefit u and ur life. This movie is making fun of people. If that is entertainment to u then so be it

  • yeah its funny but yet sad at the same time

  • you got it all wrong.. it that its almost as if black women want to be white, why are they perming there hair to make it as straight as possible? why cant they keep it as it is?

  • number one white women are not the only ones with straight hair. number to black women want there hair to be managable not bone straight. so white women want to be black when they tan everyweek

  • All natural and PROUD of it! No chemicals seeping into my brain room the perm nonsense! Besides why should I give the koreans my money? what have they given to me and the black community? Nothing, Nada, Zip! before anyone puts a weave or a perm in their hair they should really think about loving themselves.

  • so its bad to relax your hair???i use a perm no more than bout 2-3 times a yr and my hair is still curly as hell..(most people i tell dont believe me when i say i have a perm) i use it to make easier to manage the curls...who wants to comb out shirly temple curls and 24/7???sure as hell i dont..i prefer to have a life..there is nothin wrong with getting one!!!

  • Go ahead keep putting harmful cancer causing chemicals in your hair, if your excuse is "you have curly hair". I myself will not put chemicals in my hair, my natural curly hair is beautiful and I have learned to manage it. It has not made my life more difficult, or detracted from quality living. My curly hair is beautiful and I get compliments everyday. You do you girl, put those chemicals in your hair! Just make sure you have and KEEP great health insurance.

  • i will keep on doing it cuz i get just an many compliment bout my hair as anybody else who "goes natural".there is nothing wrong with getting a perm.ppl that say they hair breaks off..i dont know what they are doing to it to make it break...do they not believe in moisterizer???its not hard to have healthy hair and have a perm.people should should just stop being lazy and take care of it and dont blame it on the perm.its like blaming a gun for shooting someone.you need someone to pull the trigger

  • Like I say "keep putting those chemicals in your hair" just make sure you have and keep great health insurance, down the road you will need it. Peace!

  • I like what Chris said in the last few sentences. I've never heard that much modesty from a comedian! Two thumbs up!

  • yeah I agree it makes me happy to see when people really use their brains :) like I see alot of entertainers say they are tired I'm like what!!! lol

  • yeah....terrible interview.

  • Interviewer is horrible.....as a journalist I must say I'm embarrassed for the profession as a whole. "What's the dumbest question you've been asked?" Answer: Everything you've just spewed out of your mouth.

  • That interviewer is a dumbass....He wants to talk abt the movie Gud hair...bt he ends up askin chris rock hw exhausted he is..??

  • This guy is TERRIBLE !!

  • It's so obvious that Chris Rock thinks this interviewer is an idiot

  • they are awkwaaaard

  • There are more important issues that need to be addressed in the black community, for example like where are the fathers? Why is the funding for public schools so low? Good hair and bad hair is an issue and has been an issue since slavery but I feel as if this doc is another tool to lower the self esteem of black women. Black women have been wearing weaves, wigs, braids before Cleopatra was born.

  • As a black woman, I think its a good thing to use this to educate ppl of all races. Get white ppl to stop asking me about my hair, to notify black women of the dangers of some things they do to their hair, to let them know where their weave really comes from, etc. As far as the topic: "I'm a writer so I write about what I would want to read myself" Alice Walker. Nothing wrong with ppl choosing to do what they wanna do. There's still time for other stuff.

  • ha! it's about time someone admitted that acting and other showbusiness stuff- and the majority of things that make you super rich- is not 'real work'! next thing you know they'll be admitting that some people in hollywood are assholes.

  • "But someone has to clean up this room tonight. That guy is really working"

    <------AMEN!

  • the interviewer looks nervous as hell !

  • This interviewer obviously didn't see the movie. I am a white woman who holds this topic very close to my heart for personal reasons. I wish an informed, non ignorant interviewer would have interviewed Chris for this sit down. Wasted opportunity for a great interview.

  • seems like all black women get dissd about their hair. glad to hear about the vid. when can we see it?

  • So....how is this movie going to make his daughter feel better? Seems to me it will make her feel worst.

  • It's not to make his daughter feel better, it's to bring to attention the incredible industry that has been built solely on self-consciousness black women have gained over the years based on nothing more than the natural hair texture.

Black women make up about 7% of the US population but make up 80% of the TOTAL spent annually on hair products.

That alone gives merit to this movie.

  • that interviewer is so wack

  • i like chris rock but this movie sounds like mangled dick

  • Chris looks bored as hell

  • this interviewer does a disservice to the field of entertainment journalism. get a desk job.

  • this interviewer is a loser. good thing chris rock put up with him

  • Pootie Tang was so bad it was good!!!!

  • I loved the movie Pootie Tang

  • I love seeing Chris' mouthful of teeth! q:-B

  • I love Chris Rocks voice, its so unique! No wonder they choose him for voices in movies.

  • I really REALLY hope the drugs thing is a joke...sounds like an interesting film though

  • im SO excited to see this. I think its an excellent subject and really progressive.

  • Did he have a stroke

  • PROPS to Chris Rock for shouting out the underdog(s) that work hard, and "clean up the room"

  • too true 'i have never got tired a day in show business'

  • When is this movie coming out? I really want to see it.

  • It was produced for HBO and should be appearing on tv sometime this fall. We aren't sure if it is getting a theatrical release.

  • this is a weird ass interview

  • he's funny.. "real jobs"

  • check out the Black Hair documentary at my profile here.

It is about the Korean Take-Over of Black Hair Industry

  • EXCELLENT documentary!

  • he's always right about the 'real working' stuff, I don't like it when famous people complain about the internvieuws, how bad can it be besides constantly getting asked the same qwestions come on. You don't need to mob broken eggs of the floor, so wtf is the real problem?! :')

  • The interviewer SUCKs butt!

  • wow, crappy interview...

but i can't wait until the movie comes out in october

  • Why don't they show parts of the documentary?????? ;-((

  • This was done at Sundance before any clips of the movie were made available to press. We simply didn't have permission, so we weren't able to include any.

  • Thank you very much for your quick answer!

  • "I USED TO WORK AT REAL JOBS"

  • shut the fuck up you trailer trash motherfucker..dont even speak chris rocks name..go down a dick and mind ya manners...

  • Why you gatta say drugs!

  • i love Chris Rock

  • Y r they so close..............?

  • We had a very small space in which to conduct the interview. It was a big gallery space and we had several interviews going on at once in all different parts of the room, so we had to be careful to get the proper light, good sound and try not to get other interviews in the background. Sundance is tricky!

  • Ooo aite. I was like ?!@#$ lol.

  • y do u care???

  • Y do you care bout my comment?

  • it wasnt too bad

  • The interviewer is annoying and horrible.

  • what a horribly awkward interview

  • yes it was, lol

  • Chris Rock is funny no matter what he is given to work with.

  • this is an awful interview (due to the interviewer's poor skills).

Also, when and where can we see this film?

  • Sorry for that - it was a last minute opportunity we couldn't pass up and he was a bit nervous :) Hey, at least we got to talk to him! The movie is produced by HBO so it will be shown on their network sometime this year. As far as I know they still haven't said when.

  • okay....so that interview went nowhere

  • LOL Chris looks lost in the beginning

    0:15-0:20

  • gotta love chris rock,lol

  • Is it just me? I can't hear anything. :(

  • Keep believin that.

  • Some weave comes from factories because it's synthetic. Some weave comes from animals. Some weave comes from humans and that human hair comes from people in countries like India. Then there is weave that is mixed and comes from multiples sources.

  • I love Chris Rock for what he says at the end. I'm tired of movie stars saying how exhausting their jobs are. They get paid to make art - be grateful. He is.

  • I was thinking the same thing. They make millions doing what they love. Loading, unloading, moving shit, cleaning up, chasing after kids (I worked as a teacher). That's REAL work, not knocking what celebs do and go through, but props to Chris Rock for saying that.
