Conventions aside, the "correct" to pronounce a person's name is how they have elected to pronounce it. in situations where that person has lent his name to a product, such as the Moog Minimoog, the "correct" way is how the inventor (or at least the patent holder) chose to pronounce it.
but, I prefer the same pronunciation as you: "moo" plus the g.
And each preset of the Minimax is tweakable by EVERY knob and switch.....so..versatility is SO good.
But again..I feel that the Minimax does NOT have the "rawness" of a minimoog.
Because I have a Korg Monopoly....and the sheer vintage analogue sound of it..with its intrinsic instability, makes THAT synth have a unique sound. John
Ty Peter..I have used your patch on my Creamware Minimax...and it sounds almost the same !! (to Wardka.).as I said.I have a Creamware Minimax ABS minimoog emulator.with the same knobs and switches as the real MiniMoog...and by using this patch.it sounds almost exactly the same as this video...Wow..The Minimax is better then i expected.
(plus it has 128 presets and up to 12 note polyphony.)
Of course .you will never get the FEEL/SOUND of a true vintage analog synth.but the Minimax is close
...and in English the word "moog" is pronounced like every other word with two adjacent 'o's in it; as in "boo". Because Bob Moog chose to pronounce it a certain way doesn't make it the "correct" way. I've met other "Moog"s and they pronounce it as it should be pronounced in English. Do you inflect a Gaelic accent when you pronounce "O'Reilly" or Swedish accent when you say "Andersen"? "That's the way Bob Moog pronounced it" is a weak argument.
@coniglius Saying that the other "Moog"s you've met pronounce it one way is as equally weak an argument as saying that Bob Moog pronounced it a different way.
@coniglius I prefer the pronunciation MOO with the G at the end, but it's not correct. I've known this for ages, but in musician circles so many people pronounce it incorrectly that you feel like an idiot unless you go along with them. Proof?
"The following interview excerpt reveals the correct pronunciation: Reviewer: First off: Does your name rhyme with "vogue" or is like a cows "moo" plus a "G" at the end?
Dr. Robert Moog: It rhymes with vogue. That is the usual German pronunciation.
How can you own a MM and still pronounce Bob's name as if it rhymes with Goo? It rhymes with the letter "O". It's just plain weird that you are mispronouncing this amazing name for the amazing man. Show some respect and say his name correctly. Geeze!
I didn't think there was a single person on the planet left that didn't know that MOOG rhymes with Vogue. NOT the sound a cow makes. It sounds horrible and is not correct ACCORDING to Dr. Robert Moog himself. If you own one, please be respectful enough to honor its inventor and pronounce it correctly.

:) Plenty of places to use the "AquaTarkus Lead" It's more noticable on the live version, but that is being done on the Modular.

Agreed shaynegryn. Which is why that was/is not the basis for my argument; it's only provided as supporting evidence.

Moog rhymes with vogue, not boob.

I'm trying to remember in what part of Tarkus this sound surfaces. It does sound like a patch from Pictures at an Exhibition too.
(I wonder it the settings would work on a virtual Moog emulator.)
