I think one of the only groups on "Top of the Pops" to adamantly *not* lipsync and get away with it, was Rod Stewart and the Faces. Otherwise, everyone had to lipsync. I'm not sure why.

he hated lipsynching aswell but on shows like TOTP the are forced to do, so he makes it always so obvious.

Like in a performance of 'A Forest' in 1980 which can be seen here, Robert on bass with loose strings.. so awesome.
