Next, I also love Kaspersky and NOD32! I do like avast but just not as much as the ones I have listed above! I would reccommend avast before any other free av except comodo! Comodo is just the best period! All comodo review videos speak the truth! It hardly ever misses a threat! So yeah :)

Avast is much better than AVG - which are much better than their pay to protect counterparts (Mcaf., Norton (fucking hog and bitch of a virus program)).
Avast is also free to register fully; AVG isn't yet Avast is less of a bitch to run, install and have on your system - so I guess if avast! can tell me a worm is being downloaded onto my system for free without clusterfucking my system, I could use a 2nd proggie like a-squared or malwarebytes to remove it. not every virus is the same man. Some can be independently written and unique. That means that alot of anti viruses wont pick it up until it realy becomes a problem.
Quick comment. On Matt's Avira prevention review, a fake AV got right thru and Avira is rated higher than Avast! Avira deleted it on reboot automatically. Still, it got thru. Nothing's perfect.
NOW! I just audited my RAM and ended ALL unnecessary processes that were running. Freed up space. Avast DOES NOT slow my OLD PC! RAM is a little high, but acceptable. Drive Sentry is 17mb RAM. Just fine. For all the shields and features, it being free, Avast 4.8 is Excellent. I got 512mb ram. Works A-OK
WOW! Haven't run a Full scan with Avast in over 2 months. I have Drive Sentry 3.3 running alongside it. Just did a scan last night and I had 2 Porn-Dialers. They are NOT viruses. Good thing I don't have dial-up. Avast easily detected both, yet let them thru earlier. I think they got in via a security flaw. I have XP SP2 with 1 High Security Update missing. (Just added it). How do you know you've never had a virus with avast? There could be one running right now. Avast is okay, but its WAY to heavy on resources. Just uninstall it and see how much faster your computer is. When playing youtube vids, the web shield used 50% of my CPU on old laptop with a 2.0ghz pen4 which was UNREAL. It also used 100MB+.

I ran a full scan with malwarebytes every week so i know i'm clean.Avast on my computer only use about 20mb of ram.The web sheild barely use any cpu.I never tried comodo so i can't comment.Many site have stop recommending it because now it will install a toolbar by default.
It also has a DNS feature which makes your internet faster and more secure. I myself have noticed a difference in internet speeds with COMODO DNS.
COMODO HIPS basically makes you 100% protected IF YOU KNOW WHAT YOUR DOING. You can terminate and block processes, and basically stop all known and unkown viruses, worms, rogue, malware exc. If you dont know what it is, then block it. WOT Addon for firefox is really good, too.
i can say avast is better because , my pc root kit was infected and it was detected by avira and nod32, but both antivirus could not clean the infection nor qurantine, i tried avast it just cleaned the root kit infection. after that i installed avira , and nod 32 again. both antiviruses could not detect and infection there after. it shows avast is fairly better than avira and esetnod32

You and your supporters are quite naive. Your so called tests are amateurish. If you want scientific analyses go to Virus Bulletin or AV-Comparatives websites. There you can find some clues which are the best anti virus software. You are just grabbing some malware and test different scanners against those, but there are a million of them. Avast is doing very well in tests on mentioned sites. But if you take into account all the futures Avast supports, it might even be the best. A crank!
For those who are saying they will switch away from avast!, this isn't a thorough, through-and-through test. I use avast!, and it's no surprise to me that stuff might've gotten through. That's why the best security comes in LAYERS. Use a HIPS program like ThreatFire and you'll be fine. Besides, look at the URLS... most of these home users might not even visit.
So, it's a good review, but take it with a grain of salt. avast! is decent.
Actually Threatfire isn't really a HIPS product, its a behavioral analysis tool inless you set it in the seetings. Comodo's Defence + is more like a Hips product.

Umm I just tested avast! In a infected Box and got horrible results.
First, I installed avast
then re-booted
then updated
then updated to make sure it was 100% updated
Then done a bootscan: It found 10 trojans, deleted them all. The root-kit scanner found two.
Then I scanend with malwarebtyes: malwarebytes found 128 infections.
Avast! Diden't remove ANY rogue software. And it let antivirus plus install on my pc with all shields maxed out. =(. The truth: avast sucks

For those who are saying they will switch away from avast!, this isn't a thorough, through-and-through test. I use avast!, and it's no surprise to me that stuff might've gotten through. That's why the best security comes in LAYERS. Use a HIPS program like ThreatFire and you'll be fine. Besides, look at the URLS... most of these home users might not even visit.
So, it's a good review, but take it with a grain of salt. avast! is decent.

Actually Threatfire isn't really a HIPS product, its a behavioral analysis tool inless you set it in the seetings. Comodo's Defence + is more like a Hips product.

Sorry dude but your reviews are becoming a little stail now.
The reason Nod 32 get's a great review is because you advertise them on your site and promote them.
We know Avast has never been a favorite of yours so it's quite easy to put the boot in.
I think it did well overall on the test, it's a free anti virus and protected against 75% of newish threats.
Pass your latest threats website onto the Avast team that you use in your tests and I'm sure it would help them keep the product sharp.

Nod did well because it did well. If Avast was good I would like it. Avast did Ok, but Nod was better. The videos don't lie.

avast dont have heuristic so it might not have better detection or prevention then other antivirus. if the avast team adds heuristic i bet avast will do better
