  • Nice and upright? I dont get any stress on my back if im "nice and upright". :( He also says in the first part 1 of these vids that people have a tendency to drop their ass..well how in the world am i supposed to be nice and upright if im not dropping my ass...confused.

  • all he says is right but does that mean that if you have a shitty deadlifter structure you can't deadlift? based on my experience no you can't at least not the regular deadlift I personally do the sumo and I can lift much more weight with less risk of injury

    The reason i ask is because im about 5'8-9 and have about 66-68in reach. How is my build for deadlifting?

  • @armenianderick Reach is usually your height LOL. Measure arm length, as short arms = broad shoulders.

  • @sugmegpls As it seems from the video, you only want to do deadlifts if you can get the correct posture; if you can line up all the parts right while watching yourself in the gym mirror and it looks relatively like Rip says it does, I'd imagine it's probably okay.

  • This makes since. I am short, so I think this helps me out a bit.

  • This more than anything helps make clear the reasons behind bodies which are or aren't ideal for deadlifting in terms of alignment for the spine and stuff. That concept is sort of confusing when people besides Rippetoe talk about it.
