  • Sorry to poopoo on all the effort that went into this, but it was MUCH better when you did commentary solo. :(

  • Woman on the train = best voice acting by an LPer ever.

  • I liked this game back in the day on my 486. :D

  • (to the tune of "NYC")

    N-Y-C!

    Get mugged on the sidewalk

    -you lose

    your cash

    -you fail

    -you crash

    "The End"

    in N-

    Y-C!

  • Agree with the Cuban! Quest for Glory games are to me what Colonel's Bequest is to you Your Crabbiness- the entire Sierra games were brilliant anyway. You are talented and charming, i think Sierra Online aught to pay you for the work you do for their old games.

  • u r the best....u guna do any Quest for Glory games??

  • I still remember this as one of the best adventure games i've played back in the days along with space quest, hero's quest. Those were the days. :)

  • Aww I miss Sierra games.

  • It looks like Laura has to solve the mystery of the missing blonde hair first.

  • Greetings once again from one of your spaniard fans ! :P

I felt like re-watching this LP and found I didn't comment anything before ! So I must thank you, though late, for LPing this fantastic adventure, guys.

I have to confess there were some moments of the game that scared the hell out of me when I played it as a kid XD

By the way, I hope you all are doing well. See ya! ^_^

  • Sound Blaster sucks. Roland rules!

  • @fratom Any ideas on how to emulate a Roland MT-32 for this one ^_^?

  • well that's not streotypical at all xD they didn't even wait five seconds to mug lol

  • @ZwobotJones is you whit firewizard play shivers ?

  • I really miss games like this. This is back when games had great plots and twists. Most games today are all flashy eyecandy. I don't mind good eyecandy, but not when that is ALL the game has to offer. :)

  • you forgot to say thank you (pbs kids reference)

  • 1:29- Surprise molestation!

3:43- Go carter! punch that jerkface

7:00- He could have easily taken the other suitcases from the pile when nobody was around or looking.

Roberta Williams didn't work on this game.

  • The beginning of the game makes me crack up when Dr. Carter and Dr. Smith argue and Smith says "YOUR property?! What authority do have..." Ha! Ha! Ha! That is extremely HILARIOUS.

  • Oh my god I completely forgot this game, even though I played it for months as a kid...

  • Now that I think about it Irmgard looks like she could be Laura's mom.

  • I loved this game as a kid as well. Sierra was dumb to not make another one. Then again, I'd pay to see them put this on the DS.

  • Is it me or does most mystery game series eventually has to have something to do with egypt?

  • 3:25

    are you threatening me

    I AM CORNHOLIO

  • How can you get the voice overs to play with this? I simply can't make them work! Any help would be much appreciated :)

  • Assuming you have the CD version of the game (rather than the diskette version), I'm afraid I don't know the answer to that besides fooling around with the audio settings when you install the game...

  • @hercrabbiness Wait, are you guys joking? Or was jamescowley being serious and you replied sarcastically? Or am I just retarded? I assumed it was you and your boyfriend/husband/male friend/etc. lol, doing the voices. Or maybe there's really a voice over option but no one could get it to work so you and "the male voice" just did your own, but jamescrowley wants to know how to make the real ones work?

I'm thinking about this way too much, lol, I'm just gonna enjoy the game :) TY for posting this!

  • @hbombstatic It's a friend of hers.

  • lol the old 8 bit days

  • thank you thank you THANK YOU!!! I love this game, and it's been years since I've gotten to play it =) thanks for the memories

  • Why is Laura and her Dad so differently coloured? Laura doesn't even look like him!

And Laura's a bit of a bitch, She didn't ring her dad when she arrived like she said she would!

  • This game was fun, I never got around finishing it tho =(

  • Coffee is good

  • Say, how did you manage to record ZwobotJones from Germany, if I may ask?

  • We used Skype for the audio and Hamachi for the video streaming.

  • Hey, thank you, that helps!

  • lol your welcome ;p

  • Well I hope at some time you try it as a LP as the Game is so Fun.

  • Do you think you Could Do a LP On Manhunter New York or San fransico soon? they are great games that I never played

  • Sorry, I've never played those games...

  • hey is Lateblt actually there

  • Yep.

  • He´s the guy who says "Hello" in the beginning.

  • loved this game, never got to finish it though because i kept getting an error in the museum

  • Hey! It's my two favorite Let's Players playing what is possibly my favorite VGA Sierra game. Either this or Space Quest IV. But this game was fantastic. My only problem? I wish the mystery wasn't... not all that mysterious. The whodunnit part was a little underwhelming.

I picked up a Snowflake mic for podcasting, you should check it out... excellent audio quality. Anyway! Looking forward to going through the game with you. Thanks for doing it!

  • And guest starring, Bill Clinton as Laura's Dad!

  • Question: what in the world did Laura Bow do with all that jewel money from the first game? If you blow all that that quickly, maybe it's best to just hang yourself and get it over with. If you can't succeed at life after being handed a bag filled with priceless jewels, you'll never succeed at anything. Why did Laura's dad have to give her money? Shouldn't it be the other way around?

  • I thought it was a gun she was given at the end that she was able to sell or "keep every penny of it, as a reward"?

  • I read on wikipedia that Roberta had a small role in the making to make sure that Laura was the same character.

  • But they're cramping your style!!!

Anyways, I'm not to keen on the sequel. The original was a pleasure to watch, as I remember I had the EGA version waaaaay back.

I tried to finish it but my walkthrough wasn't the greatest. I think I even still have the box with the fingerprint map and red "maginifying lens".

  • *shrug* Different strokes for different folks, I guess.

I ended up downloading The Colonel's Bequest from the Abandonia website, so I never did see the box or the fingerprint map. What's the red "magnifying lens"?

  • The game had a copy protection scheme where it came with a big map of all the fingerprints of all the characters in the game.

When you started the game, before it would let you proceed, it would show you a fingerprint and ask you whose it was.

You had to look with the magnifier which consisted of a paper shaped frame and a red tinted piece of plastic which revealed the prints and the name.

  • Dump those geeks girl.

  • Never! :P

  • woot! i love this collab your doing!

  • I'm glad! I honestly can't think of any other LPers I'd rather be doing this with.

  • Hey hercrabbiness, I just got done watching your colonel's bequestlet's play and I'm looking forward to this one. also, i think i know what you might have missed to that caused you not to get "super sleuth." I think when you find lillian in the hedge garden, you have to examine the insignia on the boots with the monocle, just to confirm that it's the same boots(wierd i know), but it's the only thing I can think of that you missed(cuz i;ve gotten super sleuth). if somebody already said that sorry

  • Hi there, I'm glad you enjoyed my Colonel's Bequest LP. :) I'm pretty sure what kept me from getting Super Sleuth was the fact that I never examined the cigar closely, but I could be wrong. Thanks!

  • LOL! I like ZwobotJones voice for Irmgaard, but only because I was laughing hysterically from it. :D

It's so great to see all of you working on the same project. You three are the only LetsPlayers that I genuinely enjoy watching and listening to. What are you using to speak to eachother at the same time though? Some type of voice chat program maybe?

  • I like it too, but hey, I have to do *some* of the other voices... but he'll be doing the Countess' voice again, so hooray! :D

We're using Skype in order to speak to each other at the same time. As for how ZwobotJones is able to see our screen while I play... well, LateBlt explained all of that in his latest video (I have no idea how anything works, heh).

  • DON'T SPOIL OUR PLANS FOR EVERYONE =P

  • Yay! Welcome back, hercrabbiness :)

  • Thanks!

  • Yay! hercrabbiness has finally started on Laura Bow 2!

  • And LateBlt and zwobot are around too. Cool.

First time I heard LateBlt laugh like that. XD

  • Yep, took me long enough, huh?

And that won't be the last time you hear LateBlt laugh like that... ;)

  • Nice, the Laura Bow saga continues. Thanks, hercrabbiness.

lol @ LateBlt's sailing comment, as I just thought the same thing. But I believe boats still do "set sail" though the terminology is no longer accurate. So you're both kind of right.

Wow, the voice acting sounded pretty professional. Good work.

  • You're welcome. :) And I'm flattered that you think the voice acting sounds professional, so thanks! It's a lot easier to have a wide variety of voices with three people, so that probably accounts for a lot of it.

  • Not only that, but no one even stumbled over the dialog much. There was a couple times I caught myself forgetting this wasn't the talkie version, since I've never actually heard the "official" voices or even really seen much more than the trailer for the game.

Comparing to the amateur voice actors in KQ5 (actually Sierra employees) this seems much smoother. I think a lot of KQ5 was overacted if you know what I mean.

"Gra-hammm! Watch out! A POOOOOIIIIIISONOUS snake!!!"

  • AT LAST! I´ve been aching to see this, and with zwobot and LateBlt joining you, this promises to be even better than I was expecting.

How is zwobot doing this with you btw? Is he playing the game at the same time on his own computer? That would explain the lag in the dialogue.

  • We were doing this on a remote video-steaming connection... We opted to use TightVNC because that's a fairly quick solution that works out-of-the-box, but I'm sure there are probably better solutions.

  • Heh, well, I suppose we could simultaneously play the game, but I prefer one or two seconds of lag to saying "I'm not there yet!" every time one my roles comes up =P

  • Hey, the lag's fun; I'm starting to realize that there's a real art to clicking through the text early enough so that your silence won't be as pronounced. ;)

  • Good to hear from you, Itslvle! I hope this LP will meet your expectations! :)

As for how we got ZwobotJones to join us... uh... I really don't know, as I'm horrible at understanding these kinds of things. But if you're really curious, check out LateBlt's most recent video (he specifically talks about how to make this work in the last two minutes).

  • I´ve been hoping to see a video explaining a bit more about these things. Very useful.

Clicking a bit earlier is a good solution. It shouldn´t take more than five minutes per video to edit the silences out with a little bit of experience in editing, but the result would be very similar so it might not be worth the extra effort.

  • btw, Roberta is listed as "creative consultant" because she indeed did not write the game: the dialog, puzzles, and general game design were all handled by Bruce Balfour. apparently Roberta was only involved in the pre-planning stages, making sure that the look and feel of the sequel (and its characters) stayed true to the original. she gives a much more in-depth explanation in the manual of the RW Anthology, but that's a summary of what it says.

hope that clears up your confusion :)

  • Interesting. Thanks for clearing that up! Now I'm tempted to get the Anthology for more info...

  • I was wondering about that... thanks for the info, NickelSamurai!

  • yessssssssssssss!!!

  • Simply brilliant, I really hope the rest of the LP will have the full voice cast.

  • If by "the full voice cast" you mean that LateBlt, ZwobotJones, and I will be voicing people throughout the whole LP, then yeah, we're planning to do that. Hopefully we shall be successful; so far I think it's been really fun. :)

  • A lot of fun, yeah!

And as long as we stick to the way we organized the roles, we shouldn't encounter any problems =P

  • Welcome back, and good to see that Zwobot is still active.

And I absolutely like how the murderer at the beginning walks. Do the robot!

  • It's good to see people are still remembering me ;)

  • Thanks for the warm welcome! I too love how the murderer moves around at the beginning; he looks very, very cool.
