if you got a aftermarket sprocket you could squeeze out another 10 km/h easy.. but it would effect acceleration.. just going by theory in my head.. smaller sprocket should equal higher top speed which always isnt best.. acceleration is good too

Yeah let's compare apples to apples here people. It's a freakin dirt bike for crying out loud, not a crotch rocket! The WR250R is a bitchin bike. My WR250R will cruise all day at 80 MPH. I have taken her up to 94 MPH which is as fast as I need to go on a 250 with nobbies and no fairing. Its a blast to ride on the street but light enough to rip up the trails. A perfect mix in my opinion.

KTMs are nice bikes but they are notoriously overpriced, high maintenance, and are not all dual purpose.

hey, it's enduro, not sport motor. All enduros has top speed about 130-150kmh, doesn't matter how many bph it has, its just acceleration

130 km/h is pretty standard - i got the same bike - goes up to 135 to 139 km/h but i think thats cause i always make sure its tuned and on the top of its game....

You could always make it faster by changing the tooth count of the sprockets but thats the riders choice.

And NO - a KTM 250 wouldn't smoke it cause i got one and they are evenly matched - no chance would it beat the Yamaha

Nice bike, but I did 80mph(130kph) on my bone stock 1975 Kawasaki G3SS 100cc single cylinder street bike. Granted I was on HWY 1 N of Santa Cruz, going downhill, at night, with seamist cooling the cylinder, but It would cruise at 70mph on the freeway no problem. 2 strokes rule. My 1985 Husky 500CR has over 60HP and has a dry weight of 215lbs, only 7lbs more than the 2008 yz125, and noticably lighter than a YZ450F.

The WR250R should theoretically be able to reach 160km/h in 6th before the rev limiter kicks in with stock gearing.

don't worry mate... thats pretty standard speed... i get 135km/h out of mine but i keep it regularly tuned and serviced...

if you do want to make it a bit faster one day - then just change the tooth count of the sprockets - buy a new rear sprocket with two or three teeth less and you'll have a hell of a difference...

I did it with a few bikes and it works a treat - specially when you wanna race someone who has a bigger bike but standard gearing - gives you a chance to whoop their ass...
