Hi there! I think you have a great voice. I have a quick question, how long did it take you to get your mix that loud and powerful. I just discovered mine but it's a light mix and it's weak. I'm wondering whether it will take me a year or so to get there. Hope you can answer my question. Thanks!
@meilyn25 Hi. I speak on behalf of Ton Carfi, the singer here. To answer your question, I've got to agree with Cathrine Sadolin, the Complete Vocal Technique method creator, when she says that as soon as you grasp every specific vocal technique you should be able to properly carry it out right away. So, if you take a year to understand the technique, which I think is just a matter of self body awareness, that's the time you'll need to get there. Just study diaphragmatic support and resonance.
Hi. If you're wondering about his high notes, the secret is (1) support , in short, if any force is needed, it shall be focused on diaphragm) and (2) proper placement, that is, you've got to know your instrument at such an extent, so that you're able to properly change your vocal settings so as to get the most out of your produced tones on vocal folds. This is called resonance and is attained by lowering/raising larynx, soft palate, opening/closing epiglottis funnel and so on.
Also, if you're wondering his agility, the secret is starting vocal coordination by trainning vibratto along with a metronome in a slow basis. Then, increase its speed and try to get a vibrato with the very same frequency oscillation. You'll realize that a slow vibratto is more a matter of diaphragm coordination, while the fast vibratto is more up to the larynx and vocal folds. The latter vibratto is also called hammer (Cathrine Sadolin) vibrato, which gives you the agility to delineate phrases.
why are classical singers so obsessed with posture? you could have the most perfect posture in the world and still sound horrible, but if you co-ordinate your vocal cords well and have good resonance you're gonna sound great regardless of whether or not you're standing the "proper" way.
@BestNameEvar Lol true you can have great posture and still sound horrible...however, when I sing classically I find that it's easier to control and support your breath when your posture is correct, getting the most out of your vocal performance.
Moreover, as far as I'm concerned, Also, his technique is thoroughly in line with SLS (Seth Riggs) and CVT (Cathrine Sadolin) techniques. SLS is widely accepted in USA, while CVT has been successfully adopted in Europe and both them were developed by masters in classical music.
So I visited that link in the video for the vocal lesson products. Are there any in English, or must I study Portuguese to learn what this amazing singer does?
@guarimara Hey, look for Ton Carfi website to get information from him. There you will find emails and telephone number to get in touch. Thanks for writing.
No, it's definetly not fasetto. As a matter of fact, falsetto is poor in overtones and volume, since falsetto is a phonation gear with non-adducted chords. Instead of it, Carfi delivers his tone with completely adducted chords, less mass in vocal mass vibration and resonance in upper cavities.
As far as I know, Mrs Sadolin states that the CVT accounts for any kind of tone production. A CVT instructor told me that he would judge this singing mode as CURBING.
You might found lots of examples for the differences among falsetto, head voice and mixed voice in the websites and courses of Seth Riggs (SLS), Brett Manning (SS), John Henny, Roger Love, Goodrich Vocal Studio, Cathrine Sadolin (Complete Vocal Technique). It's not because you can't reach a note you can call it falsetto for everyone who is able to. I myself recorded this; it is not falsetto.
Sensível seu ouvido... tá precisando de um filtro passa baixas... Ah... e se fizer isso, não vai poder mais ouvir cantores de R&B que usam esse tipo de emissão quase o tempo todo...

Hi, there. Thanks for your comments. I speak on behalf of the
singer Ton Carfi, since I have posted this video. Well, by your
nick I presume you're a lyric singer, aren't you? As there's no
agreement regarding terminology with respect to singing issues (
according to Johan Sundberg), I'm curious about what do you mean
exactly by 'wrong posture'. Would you mind to elaborate on that?
kiagguduh 1 year ago
In spite of how it looks like, I can assure you he does not push up or
force his throat to goes that high. Actually, he was teaching me how
to hit high notes without straining. Ton has been singing in a professionaly
basis for more than 10 years on his own concerts, giving classes,
workshops, not to mention cds and dvds he has already released.
kiagguduh 1 year ago
It's believed that a poor technique for a singer who mostly sings in this range of
high notes would forcefully cause him vocal disorders, which is not his case.
In 2 years and 4 months going to his studio every single week to take classes,
I have never ever heard Ton Carfi complain of a sore throat nor sound
even a bit hoarse. That's what make me believe his technique is good.
kiagguduh 1 year ago
Moreover, as far as I'm concerned, Also, his technique is thoroughly in line with SLS (Seth Riggs) and CVT (Cathrine Sadolin) techniques. SLS is widely accepted in USA, while CVT has been successfully adopted in Europe and both them were developed by masters in classical music.

YES, it is a D#5. Elementary, my dear Watson. It's just a matter of reference, got it? You regard c1 as the middle C, while I consider C4 as the middle C. So, it's a D#5 in "Scientific Notation", it's a "d''#" in the Helmholtz notation, it's a Treble D#, it's a D# above the male "high C" or a 622.3 Hz to be exact! You may check it on Dolmetsch Music Theory website. Whatever you call it, it is fairly high, even for a Pavarotti.
kiagguduh 3 years ago
How do you transcend your tone to that "higher" quality (would that be head voice)?
djeikop 3 years ago
Hi, Djeikop
Well, we've discussed about such a tone quality he's able to achieve and we've drawn the conclusion that it is likely a "mixed voice", in terms of the Speech Level Singing. In terms of the modes of Complete Vocal Technique it seems to be Curbing, which is a restrained mode, more powerful and metallic than the Neutral one. Anatomically speaking, I think Ton stretches his full cords to the limit and resonate mostly up in the head.
kiagguduh 3 years ago
Moreover, IMHO he has his vocal folds thinned out not just by streching them, but also by releaving the weight on them, keeping an open throat, which means without closing his oropharynx. It is widely known that such a mechanism requires the singer to use less air, in order to sing powerfully, but effortlessly and safely.
