actually i beleive the handles are FRN. could be wrong, but Zytel and FRN are basically the same thing anyway (just fancy for strong plastic hah lol)

I just got one of these today but it's the 1620RDSO (snap on tools model), it's red and has snap on ingraved on the handle. The knife itself is awesome I love it, the assist is very smooth! By far one my favorite knives I own.

Only had this knife for a few hours so far today and I already love it, my first Kershaw too. Also holds the #1 place for all my assisted openers... (Which are all China Cheapos :P)

Is the knife tough, for example if you dropped it on concrete would it hold up??

It's very tough! I have dropped these on concrete before, and they didn't even scratch!

The steel holds an edge fairly well, you shouldn't need to sharpen it very often with just normal every day use :)

i have this in all black, with three little holes in the blade, and it says kershaw on the handle in silvery letters. its super fast to open and very sharp out of the box.

i too also had the pocket wear problem, and mine is not the zytel model its a H3. i think its more or less caused by that extra bend in the end of the pocket clip

na camo is a actual real tree camo handle, that is just polyamide, a high strength plastic and it has a pattern on it for grip.

I'm a big fan of the Ken Onion knives, but find that the "thin" liner lock sometimes tend to slip when the knife is thrown and hits a surface. (I tend to throw my folding knives to spear paper cups and cigarette packs when walking...I know...I know...I shouldn't "throw" a pocket knife.)

i have a green and all black one i want to take them both apart and switch the blades so i can have a green handle and a black blade but i need to know how to undo the big screw at the blade pivot dose any one know what type of screw i need

It's a hex screw, i think it's a size 6, but if you're interested Kershaw makes an OD green Scallion with black blade.

I've got the Scallion with a blue handle and plain blade. After 2 years the internal torsion bar snapped on me. I posted it back to Kershaw in the USA and 2 weeks later I got a brand new 2008 version in the post. Great service from Kershaw!!! (I'm in England).

just picked up a the red handled semi serrated scallion, couldnt be happier, shaves and cuts a bottle without movin it... absolutely perfect in the pocket, nothin in there!

If it wasnt for your reviews i would probably still shop at big5 for my knives!

Good review. The Kershaw I have (cheaper standard looking liner lock) is the best cutter, most easily honed, crispest opening knife I've got, and one of the cheapest (£25-ish). It beats my most expensive knife (£150-ish) in usability, if not in looks!

Nice knife , the only thing i dont like is the silver coloured pocket clip (which a lot of knives have)makes it a lot more obviouslthan say the dark coloured clips on the spyderco clipit range

Yeah i see were your coming from, a lot of people have that same complaint, but i personally like the silver clip, i don't mind people seeing what i got on me, i kinda whant them to see that i have a knife, that way it's not really concealed (witch would be illegal in some states) and they will stay aware.

The blade on the scallions are 420HC, the HC stands for high carbon...softer steel so its easy to sharpen! Good review, this is ony of my favorite small knives!
