Am a big GNR fan (old GNR) but I don't think Axl is the best voice ever, I'll say he has a unique voice and one of the best but not the best. But in live acts no singer can be perfect especially Axl when he runs , jumps etc that makes you run out of breath very quickly. Only my opinion.

When you sing live you are entertaining the crowd so a lot of singers don't tend to stay still I mean they do a lot of dancing, running etc. When you sing in a studio you stay still and concentrate on the song plus it's always edited. If somebody compares live with albums yes it does not make sense. I like Axl's voice very much and yes for me he is a good singer with unique voice and can be compared with the best singers.
