Having worked on a number of offshore fishing vessels that are involved in the over fishing of species that are on the edge of extinction but are highly valuable when sold. I can tell you that most of the crew on these ships come from poverty and have very little choice in their work. they need to feed there families and they are often used on this type of boat as endentured labour. ie; do you two seasons on our boat and our company will feed your family for the two years.

And from what I saw on the news when the Japanese asked what 'research' they had done on their catches there was no proof there was any research done.
