  • this is a very good video.

  • Could a woman effectively use these techniques? It seems that they depend upon equal strength for the two parties.

  • every situation changes with size, angles and body position. We have to learn how to adjust for every circumstance. Whether we are a man or women our attackers vary in size. We all have to learn different reactions based on our opponents size, strength and speed.

  • nice work.Nice thoughts.Thank you for sharing

  • This guy knows his shit.

  • You lot stop moaning. He has just showed it worked so yeh.

This stuff is problyy going to save your balls sometime, well spesh in the uk eg in london with all the stabbings.

    CHANCE FAVOURS THE PREPERD MIND!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • This video is much better than the early videos.

It actually has some valid points about improper techniques that can get you killed.

  • If someone pulled a knife on me i'd run like hell. There's no way I'm going to be trying to disarm anyone...I'm all legs

  • Tactics such as these are for the day you find yourself in a "Fatal Funnel" & can not run due to being trapped.

  • @svengalie lol yeah i do knife work but always see flaws, i think maybe the best thing is speding time sprinting on the treadmill!

  • are those judo and hapkido moves

  • The mistakes are inspired from these other arts. Combat Sense is a result of basic Seicho Jutsu

  • Most people would either be to surprised or frozen in fear when faced with a knife. Being able to grab a precise place on the attacker's arm will be very difficult in a tense situation so the best thing for an untrained person to do is 1) get away 2)use quick reflexive palm strikes to the face and/or whip kicks to the legs and RUN. NEVER start a fight.

  • Very nice. 95% of videos about knife defends are bull shits, but this guy knows. The problem is to grab the hand properly. It is a matter of training.

  • Actually, Soke Verkerke teaches us that once we understand the body's mechanics from our basic-training, he then used a TON of shock-training in order to neutralize the fear-effect. I recall being insulted and even outright scared in the middle of techniques because the constant barrage of emotional abuse eventually numbs you to lose fear of confrontation. As a result, the surprise element no longer affects you.

  • this is easier said than done.. other factors like fear, shock and surprise are also things to be considered and besides most people are not used to hostility so tendency is their weakness overcomes everthing especially their capacity to think. this video requires years and years of practice and daily application..

  • He says a lot of great things. Myself, I'm thinking, who is going to stab like that? Stabs don't come from a mile away and with a step forward as far as I'm concerned. Maybe a dummy or a drunkard, but if the guy knows anything, the knife will be maneuvered from the wrist and elbow. So think about that before you "shoot your body out of the way," because you are moving your *entire* body compared to the guy's elbow and wrist, which can switch directions must faster than your body.

  • I doubt that you can match hand spead with hand spead, so it's most important to move your body out of the way. If your body is close enough for someone to reach you, you will be stabbed. Your body should be moving out of the way before someone is close enough to reach you with the knife.

  • @ghassibi

you should prevent head on collision with the knife. This video exhibit the three ways to do it. Redirect, blend and evade. Also the technique uses both hand to control the knife. It then attacks the assailant. It finishes by taking the knife away. I prefer this technique than the techniques thought in our own martial arts, Arnis.

  • Great to know about the knife!!!! He really knows his stuff!!!

  • This is a nice video, i always wanted to learn CQC and all that stuff, could you upload all the episodes if there's more? Thank you! :D

  • i like the part where he says the best way to be in a knife fight is to run the other way. smartest answer

    out there

  • good academic discussion. What makes knife attacks very risky is that you have to deal with the "unknowns" (multiple variations of attacks). No amount of "practical drills" in any training can cover the multitude of possibilities. To defend against the knife is not a question of "how", but "who" you are...physically, mentally, & psychologically. It's not the knife that kills, it's the "one" behind the blade.

  • you should watch the clip a few more times. The instructions cover various aspects of what you should and should not do while defending against a knife.

  • good instruction. now, how do you defend against the knife?

  • It looks like he says 1) Know your surroundings 2) If you can use a chair or something to counter his weapon use it 3) If you need to run, then run 4) If you have to fight know what you are doing and be aware.

  • good details

  • hey guys I found the clip where he was doing this knife defence at full speed, this man really knows his stuff man. check it out just search for Stabbing, or "How Knife-Fighting and Defense Pan Out"

  • you are only getting a little snipit of the show. It is much more informative if you watch the complete show. Thanks for the comment though

  • Good instruction. Good quality. The only problem I have is that he doesn't simulate combat scenarios. In other words, everything is done in slow motion.

If he shows realistic demonstrations at the end of his videos, it would be more informative.

  • This is only a "short clip" to promote the DVD, u'd understand that if you had a clip of your own.

if you want to watch realistic demonstrations, BUY THE DVD.

  • Some of the best advice I've seen. I still think the best training uses a magic marker instead of a toy knife. Also, the MOST IMPORTANT knife defense advice should be given at the begining of training, and it goes like this: DODGE, AND RUN THE HELL AWAY. If you're pursued, scream and yell, and look for a long object that will work as a weapon and give you more reach. BUT MAINLY... RUN LIKE HELL.

  • Damn right. I was once told by a cop that the best technique for knives is to just dodge it. Don't try and disarm him unless you got a weapon like a stick. If you don't have anything than you better run!

  • Finally, someone who can walk the talk. Combat Sense makes Krav-Maga look like Krap-ola!

  • Niceee, this guy's good, he explains the stuff well
