I don't really think of this as a 'rehearsal'. It was clearly being filmed for this special. It has the 'look' of a rehearsal, but it's not. It's a performance, there is just no studio audience. That being said, this will ALWAYS be her signature song for me, not 'IWALY'. I'm always curious if fans that don't care much for the song are younger fans. As a fan from day one, I can't imagine Whitney without this song.

I have always said this and will always say it. Whitney is the best vocalist for two reasons. One reason is obviously her unbeatable vocals that have yet to be broken. Her control, head voice, and mid chest belts are simply unbeatable. The woman's high belts are unbeatable as well. The second reason is because of her unbeatable interpreation of a song. No matter what she sings she has always displayed amazing feeling and all of her performances are different. She is creative and changes it up!

@ccjoey I just turned 20 on November 23rd, but I was blessed to have parents in their 50s. They exposed me to actual music. She, Mariah, and Toni are my favorite artists. The thing that I love is that they aren't just artists, they are singers! They actually make you feel what the song and lyrics mean. That's a true gift from God! Those three are so powerful, that they can just do a run or riff, or just simply hum, and you will shiver! I thank the Lord for Whitney, Mariah, and Toni! :)

In order for MTV to play Micheal Jacksons videos, CBS records had to threaten to pull their other artists'

One thing I have noticed: she puts too much tension in her neck. That could severely limit the capacity of a belt. She rarely did it in her youth but over the last year, it has become a norm.

also she does'nt lift her head up when she belts which adds to the effect that she attacks a note straight on with ferostiy unlike mariah and aretha..you tilt their head up to increase their belting range

Yeah I think lifting your head helps to loosen the neck muscles, which helps in belting too!

even in her prime prime, the 80's she did the same sing. lifting your head over your center of gravity so to speak increases your beling range. compare whitneys chest notes to mariahs, one main difference if you look at it conceptually is that there belts sound like there going in opposite directions, whitney goes forward and mariah backward/behind her..if this makes any sense....mariah is none for gliding into notes whereas whitney attacks them
