  • Amanda, I think you have created your own rite of passage by expressing your concerns about the world and an asking for feedback as to how to make things "more perfect" Congratulations on becoming an adult;)

  • As a soldier who has fought in Afgahnistan and Iraq, I agree with you, there is a right of passage about going to war. But it's not about becoming a man, it's about living up to those who have fought before us.

  • Stupide 500 word comment box: Blah, nevermind, I wrote on your myspace my comment anyways

  • And your comment, "once you begin killing w/o the immediate sense of purpose and responsibility drives soldiers a little nuts..."

No responsiblity?! Sense of purpose? Are you accusing this war of training soldiers to take no responsibility for their actions? That defending yourself and friends is to have no purpose?

  • Hi did you comment on myspace? I went there and didn't find a comment listed.

I just want to state that I really think you misunderstood the point of this video blog. Its about The Rites of Passage and far from panning the war or soldiers

  • Its about how so many men that I interviewed told me how much the war gave them purpose. That is the value of their life! These are not my words but theirs. War should not give anyone purpose, it should be something that one does for duty and responsibility.

  • These men come back feeling like there is nothing bigger that they can do with there lives. War should be one thing that they do in a long life. Not the sole purpose. Men come back and commit suicide or become depressed. This is why A rite of Passage is so important so that the value of ones life can be defined. I hope that this makes sense to you. I am not panning on anything but our society and other society for not keeping such a vital ritual.

    Thanks,

    Amanda

  • Too young to know your ass from your elbow. Make a video when you're 50 and have some experience behind you.

  • Some 50 year olds have gotten jaded by life and you think that age makes you wise. I think it just makes people bitter. I'm glad to see that you haven't become jaded:( I think it was just over your head and you got embarrassed.

  • I believe she's pretty insightful. But I guess she's not telling fart jokes or talking about shopping for designer clothing or getting wasted like most 22 year olds. Maybe she actually has a brain and wants to create a discussion about why most teens want to go war and why most come back f*cked up just like Vietnam. I think age has nothing to do with whether or not someone has something good to say but I'm definitely not you. Good luck
