  • grade 2 pipe band maybe but grade 1 plus drum corp

  • as a former member of the glengarry pipe band you haters have no freaking clue what it takes to play like this

  • wow they have an awesome drum salute!

  • this is what it's all about

  • omg now i have somthing that my drum section has to look up to

  • Chakka chakka wow!!! From flaming drumsticks (Top Secret) to flying drumsticks, the best drummers in the universe are on display on YouTube! How lucky for us!!! Awesome!!!

  • WICKED MARK! WICKED!

  • UNREAL........

  • Where can i hear more like this ?

  • New to Pipe Band Drumming, not new to showmanship, these guys have it. A very entertaining yet Technical Drum Fanfare, and I am willing to bet that Master Alex would say, "how's that go again?".......thank you for what ya have done here guys and gals, oh yeah, "how's that go again?" keep on keepin on

  • It's nice to hear a corp with imagination and not playing Dutharts salute like everyone else. This is good drumming and highly entertaining.

  • Yeah, well, Iain's always up for Drumming for Drinks...

  • Hey dinesadam you are correct...there are better drum corps' out there and you were also right when you said they sound good and are entertaining and then you blow it by calling them banging american twats. Anyway they are a grade 2 corps so of course there are better.

Oh and one other thing. Glengarry County is in Eastern Ontario, Canada and although we are close to NY state, these drummers are surely not "American twats".

That being said I am sure I can avoid calling you an ignorant twat.

  • its like watching an epic kung-fu movie! lol

  • One word. FREAKIN AWESOME!!

  • @nephilium67 would u say i was full of shit if i told u i personally know the guy who dropped his stick? lol

  • @CmGHaures Cool.

  • this is awesome!

  • sweet stuff haha never seen a fanfare like this before :)

  • really good but would be even better if they learn how to play the drum correctly first

  • @dinesadam learn to play the drum first???? i bet you play kit dont you, your good with many drums around you but put you on a single drum and test you on ur rythm and technique i have a pretty damn good feeling you can NOT play nearly as well as these guys, pipe band drummers are some f the best rythmic drummers on the planet

  • @mrhinas1 very true they are but just not these ones

  • @dinesadam Why what exactly are they doing wrong?? have you any idea how hard this is

  • @lovinlife009200 yeah i do, they do sound good and its also entertaining but there is much better out there.real scottish pipe drummers have more skills than this lot of banging american twats

  • @dinesadam you have no clue what your talking about. First of all these guys are Canadian. Second of all, the "American Twats" (Gr 1. LA Scots) came on before them and sucked ass! This is great. Sure its not the absolute tightest, but its probably the best written, most entertaining drum salute out there. I personally know every guy/ girl in this corps, and all of them could do more with one stick on a drum than you could ever do with two. This is great drumming!

  • Drumlines of the college world ! eat your hearts out ! That was BAD ASSSS !!!

  • Wtf is going on the first "two" attempts... Jesus!

  • @m63shredder It was meant to sound just horrible the first two times, then the lead tip 'realized' they were all using the wrong sticks. Once they each traded and had the 'correct' sticks it sounded better. Humor in a Scottish Drum Salute is definately rare! :)

  • GREAT!!!

  • this is the best drum salute i have ever seen!

  • Suberp!!!!!!!!

  • Lovely!

  • i just watched the la scots play their drum salute... its good but not this good

  • big up the bass drum

    the time is now.

  • This is good in my opinion. The drum corp looked like they had fun. It was after a long day of competing. They probably went in without going over it. The are a hell of a drum corp.

  • catch urselves on people any average grade 2 drumer would tell u this is very very average

  • for any competition of course, but for a show in a beer tent after comp is done and everyone's had a few beers, this is a perfect show salute

  • haha buddy in the middle is awsome, but the rest have to stop looking down.

  • i cant belive the clip. my god. this is one the the most amazing things i have ever seen. ladies and gentlemen this is a modern day Mozart that wrote this.

  • amazing

  • at the end of the day didnt they have a good time? i know i did well done you guys

  • WAW...thats just soooo incredibly clean...i love this so much. hounestly best salute i have ever seen. job well done !

  • In the words of Alex Duthart, "all there is to drumming is a tap and a roll, and all embelishments are composed of either a tap or a roll." A buzz is a buzz, a roll is a roll. different, a buzz is a roll played and sustained for only that one note, a roll is sustained for a number of notes. This is a pretty stupid argument. A buzz is basically an abbreviation, of a roll. and when it comes to double taps. a roll is composed of them, just very tighly, to the point it then sounds like a "zzzz".

  • that's mint!!

  • 6:57 There's a round of beers!

    Holy shit! I know him!

  • I wish people understood how incredibly technical this style of snare drumming is.

They don't double stroke. They buzz.

  • @Xnpio they do both. ;D

  • @Xnpio

It's harder to squeeze out doubles than it is to buzz. Play the right heights...

  • @Xnpio shut up

  • lol they SUCK

  • does anyone have the sheet music to this i really love this kinda stuff

  • TIGHT! I would drop my sticks far more often....

  • i play alot of R&R blues pop ect but !!! this just blows my mind every time i watch this

  • Freakin' awesome.

  • they were killer but to many rolls i like single strokes

  • Hmm? Many rolls? There's more singles there then rolls.

  • People who don't understand the highland snare drum think the single strokes are rolls because they buzz. Haha.

  • there arent that many roles in here, its mostly buzzes

  • buzzes are rolls :P and they arn't really buzzing that's more like begginer quality double rolls

  • buzzes are NOT roles...

  • actually, buzzes are rolls (sustained sound) and defind rolls such as rrll or rrrlll are not rolls but RHYTHMS

  • If a buzz and a roll was the same thing, then on sheet music, they be the same note, but they arent!!! They are two different things!!!

  • depends on what sheet music your looking at

    the dictionary says

"A drum roll (or roll for short) is a technique the percussionist employs to produce a sustained sound on a percussion instrument. Rolls are used by composers to sustain the sound and create other effects, the most common of which is using a roll to build anticipation."

note that webster does not discriminate between open and closed (buzzed) rolls.

  • i'm happy to be apart of the Glengarry Pipe Band :) all you guys are amazing! ♥

  • Well, I'm glad to see a lass on the snare line.

This was very entertaining, but it isn't quite DCI, though.

  • These guys are so beast

    Love the gang vox too!!!!!!

  • too bad about the raunchy quality of the vid.

    nifty!

  • love the vocals!! specially from Rob on the end!!

  • fukin brill lads

  • ab 5:40 beste

  • That is awesome

  • One of the best! Smoked those jokers from the LA Scots

  • Somebody flag this FU@KER....

  • 1st class .......................

  • omg that was amazing

  • they sing in cavemen-like language

    XDD

  • geon yea boyesa ....

  • Great video

  • I know Mark Passmore and he thinks he's the best and he's gay!!!

    -Jay Morgan

  • this is only grade 2!?!?! i think it could be grade 1!!!!

  • Agreed, surely a Grade 1 corps there.

    Sensational video.

  • i watch this vid all the time its the shit i seriosly cant find a better drum salute

  • you think this is good look up shotts and dykehead jim kilpatrick drum solo

  • Obviously Shotts are something else.

But I honestly prefer watching and listening to this salute than I do Shotts.

  • am in no way dissin these boys at all, quality salute!

  • no probs mate, shotss plays in my town every year and jim kilpatrick is a bit of a hero of mine,am not dissin this at all, great salute

  • type in steven plays alex duthart

  • @666soad Hear hear, I cannot agree with you more. All of those fancy suited groups, all filmed in HD with the best digital sound....They can`t beat this vibrant lot doing their thing in "lo fi" in some beer tent.

  • WOW!!!! i rly wish i was that good hahahah i rly suck

  • Holy shit!! The beginning is pretty good. Those are like all paradiddles and paradiddle-diddles too!!! Damn, gimme some of this sheet music!! I wanna try this!! Does anyone know where I can get this kind of sheet music?

  • superb drumming, spoiled it wi that chanting pish

  • Agreed! it made it a chantparadiddle instead of an "elevator - goin up" drag triplet - confused? you will be etc etc luv the drums man.. Kilpatrick's yer man

  • Whoever wrote that did a fantastic job. Great groove through the whole thing.

    Awesome job.

  • Mark Passmore ( LD ) wrote this fanfair for his brother and sister in law Colin Clansey and Christina Tindill, for a wedding present he called it " Clansey's fanfair "

  • Oh my God! I just joined pipe band about 6 months ago..I've got a long way to go! Very inspirational.

  • they are kp2 drumsticks u can get them from any good music shop

  • Thinking of becoming a pipe drummer. What sticks are these guys using? Does any drum shop have them?

    Thanks

  • you can try some vic firth sigs they really think like over a cm thick i get them from i shop in melbourne vic they have a metal rod through the middle of them not good if you go through airport security lol i learnt from experience

  • Would have like to seen more of the tenors =(

  • gone yea boyes yeasa.

  • one word:AWESOME

  • magic

  • Really nice !!

did you heard about Orange Blue Drum Corps?

    youtube: watch?v=BClYpStHnsI&feature=related

    youtube: watch?v=LXkW23hUmEI&feature=related

    Have a nice day !!!

  • This is more like a marching band drum fanfare, not a pipe band drum salute. Same cadences and style a MB would use, either way it's good. I like it, but shouldn't call it a salute, anybody disagree?

  • half and half...pretty catchy and something different but i think you're right also

  • any scores available?

  • why are your f84ki7g drumers not on utube then we can see what there made of....

  • no fckn doubt that was passmore:P way too awesome after probably a good number of drinks:P

  • it takes more skill to play with more drummers....hense playing in time with each other ...

so dont say that yours sounds better as you have 3 snares take sless skill to be in time...

    anyone disagree ?

  • Absolutely out of this world, its one sound you just can't beat! And here was me searchin around for a wee drum solo, I'm still recovering from the goosebumps :D

  • I can watch/listen to this a million times - awesome awesome job!!!

  • my school has a pipe band and i get to hear this kinda thing every morning

  • snopp

  • i hate you guys.. you make it look so easy!!!!!

  • i know what you mean...

  • son como los de sapa, loco los tienen q ir a ver hay un rubio q no sabes lo q toca, encima es un bombonazo. there is a pipe band in argentina named SAPA, they are really good! and the LSD is jam of the middle!

  • why only grade 2?

  • try playing without ghosting (looking) then will be world number 1

  • STILL GOOD......

  • dude get your terms right.. ghosting isnt looking.... ghosting is when you play ghosted notes..... ghosted notes are played softer.

  • LoL, You got him there!

  • for one thing your suppose to look at the lead sticks while your playing it helps in the sychronization especially with a drum corp that size. Cause when u watch u match there stick height and everything

  • not picking on playing ability or sound just would look better if not making it obvious that looking at fellow drummers

i love the beats love the sound hence would be world no 1 part i left

  • nice sound!!!!

  • I love the snare's pitches. Crisp, clean sound. Magnificient.

  • I like that. Feels nice.

  • rock on glengarry....

  • we are amazing!!!! don't hate us cuz we're good!

  • dillard got that as a warm up lol

  • there good, but they messed up too many times in one performance

  • This is great stuff, where can I find more from them?

  • man, they are in a beer tent, not on the field.

  • i personally am not usually a big fan of Pipe Band Drum Corps... but this is way above the norm. truely talented group of players!! awesome vid! thanks for posting :D

  • see the guy drop his sticks at 6:58? understandable mistake tho, considering the difficulty of the salute.

  • yeh really, it was stil an amazing performance

  • fucking amazing, best snare drumming ive seen so far.

  • Shreddin' gentlemen. And yes the crowd was awesome too! just when I felt good about my sticking.

  • now thats drummin fukin tasty

  • awesome. and i love all the energy from the crowd.

  • that is...inspiring. gotta love it.

  • need a bit more rope lol.. good stuff.. where's the jolly beggerman :)

  • cool stuff man! People must remember that Scottish style pipe snare drumming is a different animal than DCI. Neither is better, just different styles. These guys "get-down"! Believe me Exodized-I've seen some pretty dirty DCI drummers as well.

  • Extremely Talented Men

  • long live the scots!

  • To the DCI prick "i can't stand the dirt" Please, go take your drum corp, and stand out side all day, and deal wth rain and wind and extreme heat(all in the same day) have about 10 pints of the beer tents finest while someones tanked wife keeps grabbing your crotch, and tell me how you do. Until then, go iron your pants, and funny hats and capes, and keep pretending you're still in high school. (to all DCI people that didn't make a comment, keep up the good drumming).

  • wait when did he say this??

  • ahahahh that was by far the best comment ive seen in ages pipe band drumming in itself is better than drumline never mind the talent these guys are displaying

  • They are very good drummers!!!! There rudaments are very clean. They don't have all the same stick highth though, at least from the angle that the camera was at. I would also have to agree that the stick clicks around 5:45 were kick ass! Keep it up guys. I like what you guys are doing!

  • Sick paradiddles.

  • Amazing, I'm a snare drummer as well, and that is simply amazing.

  • freaky awesome!!!!!!

  • Class!

  • Family and friends obviously had a good day as did their drumming relatives.

  • Mesmerizing!

  • Very entertaining! I agree, must of been a bit drunk :P
