Brandon Routh should play the role of Superman in the reboot film.
While I'm a fan of Smallville, I don't think Tom Welling will be a good fit for the Superman role. I believe Routh brings life to Superman and would be the best bet. Routh is more likable and approachable with fans. He is definitely my pick for the new Superman reboot movie. Welling is shut off from fans and avoids the media. Only appeared twice at Comic Con in 10 yrs of Smallville. He's not a good Superman ambassador.
@MrMaDelirious One more thing, Bryan Singer and Brandon Routh put the Reeve and the Donnor films above Superman's source material- the comic books. That is why there were so many loopholes in the film. Like how on earth Superman could lift an entire island of kryptonite into space, when he can barely pick up a small chunk of it in the comics. And the movie really was a let-down for fans who've wanted to see Superman at least hit...something. It was over 2 1/2 hours long and not 1 fight scene
@laddie86 I say stray away from the comic book aspect as much as possible, besides the island of kryptonite was a mixture of the crystals and kryptonite. Yea complicated stuff but the Superman franchise is cursed anyway. The first Superman movie it took at least 30 to 40 minutes into the film before you saw any action at all. It was not till Superman2 was released you saw action. People today are not interested in a Boy Scout Superman though that is part of his origins.
I actually hope they DON'T bring back Routh. Even though it was of course mostly Singer's fault for the- lack of action, stupid super-kid and lack of a good/worthy opponent for Superman to fight. I still think Brandon Routh lacked the true charisma to be a Superman. He seemed too small, meek and unsure of himself and i understand that's good for the Clark character, but NOT for Superman. He didn't at all seem confident or optimistic, two traditional traits of Superman. SR was just terrible!
@MrMaDelirious Chris Reeve pulled off a great portrayal of Superman and Clark Kent. He had superb acting and was very original for his day. Routh barely had any lines in the entire film and for the few lines he had he sucked at. Brandon tried too hard to be like Reeve, when he SHOULD have been more like Superman. Bryan Singer admitted that he chose Brandon because he resembled Reeve, but honestly, an actor should be chosen NOT for the actor, but they should be chosen for the CHARACTER.
Well, I doubt he will to be honest. From what it seems they don't want the next Superman film to affiliated with the previous ones and as I recalled, reboots usually mean that everything changes from the look of the world to the cast. Even if Routh did a good job he may not get a second chance unless they do a "Prequel" to Superman Returns which I doubt will happen as well.
@Sweetmervs Snyder in control still has me a bit nervous, but I still have some hope for this even though in reality we have no clue what this script intel's or where they are production wise at the moment, we've gotten so many rumors and so few truths that I have just been waiting it out until more facts are revealed. Over all, the time is ticking and they need to get this thing green lit and casted soon. Production is really pushing it time wise.
I also feel that if Routh doesn't return there could still be someone out there better. We'll just have to wait and see what happens and hope for an awesome new Superman movie.
i think they need a reboot with a new direction with a bigger more muscular guy plus make clark kent more straight. there to much emphysis on the 70's version never forget the george reeves version was diffrent. so A NEW direction A NEW superman A NEW era

@ntrprising What are your thoughts now that Christopher Nolan has left Superman and left it in the care director Zack Snyder?
